Rigol DS1054Z
« on: October 30, 2014, 04:59:41 am »
Ok 40 pages of reading and still don't have a clue on upgrading this 'scope. I am considering purchasing one but would like some clear instructions on the upgrades and how they are done.

A private EM with the info would be fine and I would also like to get the EEV blog discount code.

TIA

Almost a one month wait from t-equipment but my 1054z is on the UPS truck as we speak
The first thing I'm gonna try is to " upgrade" it.    I too have had no luck finding any luck on specifics as to can it be done.  I am willing to help post experiment with mine for the benefit of all if somebody with more brains can guide me along

Guys, Yes it is hell of a work to go through all those information.

Manual:
Go to : http://rigol.avotronics.co.uk/mirrors/riglol/
Put there "DSER" code
Insert code into your oscilloscope via menu. This gives you all 100% working options. There are some like 500uV range which should not be enabled since they are not official and working properly.

Enjoy.

edit:
I am just reminding that the whole "hack" is done only via unlock code and no HW changes are necessary (at least for 1074z which I owe). You can revert your modified scope via PC in case you need to for some reason.

No problem pal, buy it. You will be happy with that scope.

I just tried to go to the avotronics site and it's down. Anybody else have a problem?

Yes, use http://gotroot.ca/rigol/riglol/. I just did this a few days ago. If it doesn't work the first time, close the page and clear your cache and try again. It didn't give me a valid code the first time.

1. Download 'Source code' - located at bottom of the page (http://gotroot.ca/rigol/riglol/)
2. Un-rar archive
3. In the 'bin' directory you can find window, osx, linux and html(js) version
4. If you are windows user: run riglol.exe in the CMD window

Works perfect, much better then www on-line version.

There are reports on another thread on this forum of not being able to revert the model number back from 1104 to 1054 if you opt for the bandwidth hack. So be careful as you may void the warranty.
