Hantek 6022BE
« on: May 02, 2022, 05:22:33 am »
Is the Hantek 6022BE good for testing CD players and other audio equipment .
I'm new to scopes and I think it will be good for learning.
It's the only cheap option in India. The other ones are very very expensive, and I don't want to spent that kind of money now.
Please advise.

In comparison, how much is the Owon VDS1022i?

Also, how much is Owon HDS242S? This might be more than double the price, but OTOH would give you a self contained oscilloscope, multimeter and signal generator, that could still be useful or hold most of its value if you decide to upgrade later.

From a use-case point of view, are you looking at audio signal paths, power supplies, digital/control circuits or all of these?

Owon VDS1022 is available for app. 25% more (but not from a reliable source like amazon)
Owon HDS242S is available for double the price on Amazon.

My main priority is CD lens adjustment, which is impossible to do correctly without an oscilloscope.
My Denon amplifier also need some repair, for which the scope will come in handy.

I own a few CD players and amplifiers (Yamaha, Denon, Philips). Some vintage stufff too.  I try to fix them myself when they break down. There are no repair specialists in India. The very few that exist charge an insane amount. The Aliexpress ban made it worse :palm:
I have to do it myself with help from you guys :-+ and the service manuals.

I have a 6022BL - but I can't really comment on how good or bad the unit is as the PC software (that I tried) is pretty ordinary and I quickly drifted away from using it.

That was some time ago, so maybe something better is now available.

Those price increments look proportionate. I would be inclined to consider the Owons - they both have better ‘front ends’ than the Hantek. Check the data sheets carefully and the extensive discussion of these devices on eevblog. From what I’ve read, the Owon software works better too, although as noted, there are open source alternatives to the stock software. Be careful about model numbers: the ‘i’ version of VDS1022i has USB isolation (to protect your PC) and the ‘S’ version of HDS242S is the one that has the signal generator.

Just a link to the 'main' 6022BE and VDS1022I threads. You can probably find everything you could ever wish to know in these...

Hint: Go for the VDS1022I if you can.
