Hello All,
Bought my Scope new from TEquipment.com about 8 yrs ago or more based on the EEVblog comments. Works great for what I do. Did a self Cal. before the Trial package was out and Rigol sent me a New Full Trial. GREAT.... Now that is out. Checked out the Rigol 5000 and 7000 and its more then what I need for what I do. But I do need the RS232 Decode. The Gen Key seems to be all used up at (http://gotroot.ca/rigol/riglol/ (http://gotroot.ca/rigol/riglol/)), so now I'm trying to figure the next best move. Micro Controllers from Parallax.com, 20mhz is what I like doing (48pin OEM).
Any advice would be helpfull.
Thanks for any help

I think you should try again with riglol. "Used up" is not possible, as it is only a matching key for the SN that is generated. Double and triple check for typos when entering the activation code...

Hello,
Not from Rigol, that one is now used up. But the one from the Unlock website says used up.
Thanks

For the non-A version, make sure you clear the serial number and options fields before entry your info. Trash in the input field messes up the keygen. Don't change the private key field. Also, try a different browser too.
Is it the DS2102A (i.e. 'A') version by chance?
As I remember, the 'A' version needs to be opened and the memory dumped via the JTAG to extract the private key. Look through the HUGE Rigol thread to be sure.

There is also an issue with hacking the '-S' models. I don't know the status of those.

I pressume the OP has tried too many times and number of retries is used up on the scope. On the 1054z you have to wait then for 24 hours to retry (probably the same on the 2000 series). Where does the message "used up" appear: on the website or on your scope?

Maybe tried to (re-) install an evaluation (temporary) license? Try the permanent one?

You must have mistyped something there -- that sentence does not make sense.
Could you clarify please, and elaborate on where the "used up" condition is indicated?
Where do you see the message, and what is the exact wording?

Hello All,
Because I did the 'Self-Cal', it wiped out the rest of my "Trial Version". Rigol was kind enough to send me another copy, now that TIME is out. Sorry for the confusion.
The Key Gen NUMBER that I input to the Rigol DS2000 displays "License is Unavailable" and after the 3rd try it displays try again after 30 seconds.
Will try some of the other suggestions
Thanks
Or just buy it

Hello All,
Just tried the Link http://gotroot.ca/rigol/riglol/ (http://gotroot.ca/rigol/riglol/) with the MS Browser and neither option would work, Official/Trial. Still "License unavailable".
Thanks for any help

Sorry, neither of these things is true. The DS2000A and DS2000A-S don't require opening or installing a hacked firmware. Memdump over USB and riglol works fine for both. I think you may be thinking of the DS1000Z-Plus models.

I have not followed this for the DS2000 series. But when users fail to get their DS1000Z upgraded via Riglol, the most common cause seems to be an error in reading or entering the serial number, or the option key.
If you have read your serial number from the scope's screen, double-check it against the one on the sticker on the back. (Some characters are easy to get mixed up in the screen font.) To enter the option key into the scope, you can also use the telnet command :SYSTem:OPTion:INSTall, instead of the error-prone entry via the encoder knob.
