Rigol ds2102e CAN decode
« on: February 08, 2019, 05:20:33 pm »
Is it possible to CAN decode the "A-B" math signal on a Rigol DS2102E?  I just purchased a new DS2102e and am trying to use it to decode potential issues on my Chevy CAN bus.  It seems that the decode can only be applied to CH1 or CH2 unless I am missing something.

At least on an MSO2**2A-S it's not possible to select math as an input to a decoder. I'm afraid the only way to analyze a differential signal on one of these Rigol scopes with their protocol decoders would be to use a "proper" differential probe.

What about adding a CAN transceiver eval board to do the differential to single ended conversion?

For example:

If you're just after decoding the bus, then simply decoding A should be enough to retrieve the packets.
However, you could use a CAN transceiver, or a simple op-amp if you're after the differential signal.
