Curious about these. About 18 months ago, I purchased a modular Chroma DC load system with 8 channels. It was about $1200 or so. The same 8ch with these would be vastly more expensive and probably not any better.......

The bottom end Rigol could be very interesting if it doesn't have fatal flaws like the first gen power supplies. Anything above that isn't worth considering.

[edit]Slew rate for the bottom end Rigol is 1/4 (2.5A/us versus 10A/us) that of a Kikusui and price is 1/5th of a 200W Kik. I fell for the marketing blah blah but the data sheet is less impressive.

I might consider one instead of an Array, but Kikusui is safe on the high end.

that thing can be easily built. 1-2A/us per power element is not far from hobbiest reality... building CV/CL homebrew PSU just like everybody here keen of doing, is more difficult...

I'm enquiring out of being more interested in buying a tool than another project. I've only driven an older Kikusui, so I have no idea how well the new programmable ones would stack up to the Rigol's programmability.  The slow slew rate isn't  a show stopper for me necessarily, particularly if its $500, run and done.

2.5 A/us is plenty fast for general purpose use...  For really fast pulse testing, you need to pay much more or spin your own... But I don't need that stuff most of the time.
When testing batteries, no need to be very fast... And electronic load is to me most useful for thermal testing and such... Pulse testing for stability is just a small part of it's use..
