Hi, I’m new here as well, and I’d like to join the thread about unlocking the DG821PRO.

@gbix - could you please send me a private message if it would be possible for you to assist in unlocking this device?

Please, someone with calibrated manualy 80x confirm that there is no such channels missmatch problem as posted here above: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/rigol-just-launch-its-new-function-generator-dg800pro-900pro/msg5790611/#msg5790611

I was surprised by such a big difference between the channels, as well as the drop in higher frequencies, and that's exactly why I posted it. Maybe my Rigol is bad, but no one denies it or publishes their measurements. If there is a possibility of calibration, it would be great.

Maybe my Rigol is bad, but no one denies it or publishes their measurements.

As the owner of a factory default, unhacked 822 Pro, all I can say is that channel offsets are well within the published specifications when operating inside of the licensed frequency range. Outside of that range (using the Burst to Continuous mode 'workaround', rather than the hack) then I too see significant departures from spec, both in absolute amplitude and channel offset (I tested with 200MHz sine).

I am currently of the opinion that the 'upgrade' from 8xx series to 9xx series is of 'interest' value only, without a documented re-calibration process.

I updated hacked DG821 Pro (it is DG922 Pro now) with DG900 firmware file and it went without problems.

Did your manual calibration efforts succeed? What level are the differences between channels at high frequencies?

calibration test of dg821pro.

dg821pro after calibration from 100khz to 200mhz.
the rigol mso5000 was used as a meter.

Chrome and Opera download only the first frame. Could you, please, upload it to a zip archive?

Phase calibration is also very important. Please, compare a fast slope low frequency signal to a high frequency one. Or two channels together, at least.

Ultra Station = Ultra Frustration  |O

Having a real pickle of a time trying to use Ultra Station to upload waveforms to my DG... My DS822Pro (now a 922 Pro, thanks again to gbix) responds to PINGs and web page requests just fine, but I cannot add it as a Lan Instrument in this software.

What on earth am I missing?

Is there any success for a 902PRO right here ?
Some know limitations as the 800 PRO series like poor calibration ?

Regards

Hi RAPo, thanks for the reply.

I watched that the other day a few times. This was what got me to this point. I don't recall the video actually showing how the instrument is "added" at the end of the process to be able to send it. Marcel was kind enough to reply to a comment I left, but I'm not having any luck.

I will watch it again in case I missed something.

I am on firmware 00.02.00.00.05

Results after recalibrating

Both channels, but one by one on 1ch osc
Vpp is 1.028v on gen output 1.0v, 195mhz

Generating a custom wave using the UltraStation software and uploading directly to the device
I was able to send up to 32m in length and 312.5m Sa/s, but it was more 5 minutes  :)

Tried the burst approach, on a non hacked or tweaked unit still running the old vanilla fw it arrived with in 2023 and its certainly willing to play along with that UI entry-bug, as you can dial in a given value way out of bounce on many of the waveforms.. quite telling that Rigol still hasn't noticed such an OG-bug for 1½ year.

Its scripted UI-limit seems to be 0.1ns/10G across most of the plate but it will seize up if you try with ludicris values that the hardware ain't given for.
Around its useable scale and also a tad above it, it works okay.. 200MHz up its own frequency-cloaca.(* old-fw, non hacked DG821PRO)

Its a weird fish when your are up above its nominal 200MHz..
Again 250MHz sourced Into its own frequency counter. (*non hacked unit, its still on the old vanilla fw it arrived in mid december2023)

Thanks Kurt, looks like I am going to have to settle for FTP. I've setup a desktop shortcut to the "c" drive on the DG using an FTP client for quick access. This will have to do for now.

Nothing I try in Ultra Station will connect to my device. I've tried 2 different PCs on 2 different networks and even a direct connection via crossover cable.  :-//

The two waveform-sheets for DG800PRO & 900PRO series.
With the UI bug that NE666 found #234 - you can go way above what the DG800PRO & DG900PRO series otherwise present as limits on most of the other waveforms, incl. the arb-portfolio of inbuilt ones...around 200Mhz seems to be the limit for the arb-catagory that otherwise is limited at 10MHz for 821PRO
Am still on the older fw it arrived with in December 2023 [V01-0.21] so it also works fine there, not sure if it's exactly the same on the later FW2-0.05.

DG800PRO series.

DG900PRO series.

https://static.eleshop.nl/mage/media/downloads/DG900Pro_DataSheet_EN.pdf

Tried 40Mhz ramp 20Vpp,and the Ramp is otherwise maxed at just 1MHz for DG821PRO, but its the same for many of the other waveforms that are open for input at way above its official specs, but I'm likely also reaching a ceiling on what my Micsig scope can muster..with its 145Mhz analog bw.. not least at some of the faster-rising waveforms and if its the scope or the sig-gens hardware I'm reaching the limits at.

freq. spot on scope, amplitude down around 17vpp, and symmetry drops.

Arb "Dualtone" 55Mhz so above any of the PRO-model's limits, that on DG821PRO is merely 10MHz..

Hi @gbix, I recently bought a DG822 Pro and plan to upgrade it to a 922.
Could you please help me with that?
