| Rigol MSO5074 (and others?) Default Settings |
| (1/1) |
| SeoulBigChris:
Last year I upgraded from my trusty DS1054Z to the MSO5074 because of some projects I had at the time. I am very pleased with my choice and it's been a great fit for the kinds of designs I work with. Some things I really like: It has a knob-per-channel for changing the vertical amplifier gain and offset, and also a separate knob for adjusting the time base and trigger offset. I've used digital scopes over the years that tried to combine many/all these into shared knob(s), and I found that arrangement less than satisfactory. I'm liking the larger screen (I'm getting old) and the touch screen. I'm impressed with the connectivity and use Ethernet quite a bit. Minor nitpick, what's with the Rigol color scheme? Two colors of blue? And pink? Is the yellow-blue-red-green color scheme commonly found on other scopes a patent or trademark thing? Anyway, on with my question... Because I'm lazy, I got to wondering about the scope default settings. If I'm working on one project for days or weeks at a time, I save the settings to a file. But every time I turn on the scope, I have to load the settings. It sure would be nice to specify a particular settings file to be default on power-up. It isn't immediately obvious how one would do that. Is this possible? A related question, is there a way to "mute" the display screen? I wouldn't mind just leaving it on 24/7, thus bypassing the above question entirely, but the display generates a bit of heat if left on all day. I'd say quite more heat than the DS1054Z does, unsurprising given the larger size and color of the screen. -Chris |

It should power on in the exact same state as you powered it off. If it doesn't then look in Utility->System for the "Power on" option and set it to "Last" |
| SeoulBigChris:
Thanks, @Fungus. That did the trick. I’m surprised that isn’t the default setting from the factory. |

There’s also a screen saver setting that I use with a single character that might work for you if you want to oeVe it on, Page 16-4 in the manual. Jeff |
| SeoulBigChris:
Oh. That’s good to know. I really should RTFM. I see the screen saver function has been moved in the manual from chapter 16 to page 20-16, for anyone who finds this thread in the future. |
