Rigol Waveform Playbck "dim"
« on: December 11, 2017, 09:28:43 am »
Hi Guys

I have a DS2102A 'scope and I am having issues with waveform recording and playback. When I playback a recorded waveform, I am finding the brightness of the playback waveform very dim indeed.

I've created a (very poor) video to show the problem.

https://youtu.be/dSMypOHJ4BM

Can anyone help identify what I am doing wrong?

If there are expert Rigol users here I'd also like to know if its possible to turn on persistence of the Math trace and also set the 'scope in DC mode but with a DC offset?

Thanks

Mark

I can duplicate the behavior you show in the video by turning on persistence before starting to record the waveforms. Considering what persistence is (making the waveform darker in spots it hits many times) and what playback mode is doing (showing a single waveform capture at a time), this seems to make sense. If I'm correct, try turning off persistence before you record the waveforms, and see if the behavior persists. When you think about it, persistence and playback don't really make sense together anyways.

Strangely, I can't reproduce this myself now. I **was** using the persistence function (and disappointed it didn't apply to the math trace) but it was certainly switched off when i was seeing the issue.

I guess a found a combination of events that cause this behavior.
