Rohde & Schwarz DVG MPEG2 Generator repair
« on: July 21, 2019, 04:42:13 pm »
Hi,
I have a Rohde & Schwarz DVG MPEG-2 Measurement Generator with a broken hard drive.
Changing the HDD is not a problem for the hardware part, but does anyone know how it must be prepared (format, system, software) and where I can find the adequate software files ?
I have spend hours searching through the web, unsuccessfully  :(
The device has been bought on ebay and I'm neither a professional nor a millionaire, so no chance to get something from R&S...
Thanks
Richard

Have you asked R&S? According to some it seems they can be helpful in some cases.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

I haven't asked R&S, I thought I don't get any chance to get help as a non-professional, on old gear  :(
But it is worth a try, I have nothing to loose...
I'll first try with local R&S (France), and in case of negative answer, with central (Germany).

Hi, I realize that this is an old topic, but unfortunately have the same problem with this nice device. Its disk tries to spin up three times but fails.

I have tried to connect a keyboard and enter the bios setup to select the right startup-disk, but I did not manage to start the setup. No keys worked during boot, tried F1 , F2 , F3 , F4 , DEL and some more. The keyboard itself should be fine because later on it enters the any key and it re-prompts the insert diskette text.

Replacing the disk with another one should be easy, but then again there is just an empty disk without bootfiles. Is there any chance that anyone of you can provide me with these files ? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
