I have just received my Siglent SDS2104X Plus oscilloscope, specifically to do Bode plotting using my external Siglent SDG2042X AWG.
The plotting function works correctly if I use the internal AWG (free trial) but I cannot find the magic potion to get the two instruments to talk to each other via LAN.
Admittedly, I know nothing about LAN.

I am confused on how to set the IP, SubMask, and Gateway parameters on both the oscilloscope and the signal generator.

Nothing else connected ... can someone suggest a set of values to get the two communicating.

Presently, I get 'FAILED TO CONNECT TO AWG' response when testing the connection, so clearly I have lost my way.

I also see that both instruments have a USB Host connection, and I must admit I am clueless as to how to connect via USB. I don't think I have ever seen a USB cable with the same host connector on each end.

Latest firmware installed ... thank you so much for taking the time to read of my woes. I am hopeful others have done something similar but successful.

Set both to DHCP and let your router do its thing.

OR

Look at your PC settings (uisng "ipconfig") and replicate in both equipments but change the last octet in the IP address (use for example 200 and 201).

I was thinking you just used an ethernet cable to connect the two instruments. Really, I know so little.

I was able to get the USB connection figured out and it works well. However, I am still interested in the LAN interface.
I have been looking for a good LAN for Dummies reference to help.

Thanks!

@W7NGA
Firstly the scopes AWG control function is only for the internal AWG in case you missed that.  ;)
To use Bode plot you can select the stimulus source, be it internal or the SDG you have.
For the SDG you should have an A to B USB cable that came with it. Use the USB B end into SDG and the A end into the scope and after a second or two the scope should recognise it's connected however you may need to be in Bode for that to happen.

For LAN connectivity it's best they both be on your local network then you can assign network IP's to each or with DHCP enabled let them find their own IP's. Don't forget to hit Save !
If you have just a single LAN connection at the bench I advise to have a small network switch with connections to each of the scope, AWG and PC.

Otherwise just what tv84 said.  :)

Thanks. I did realize that the AWG function only controls the internal generator. I was interested in the Bode plotting and making use of my existing AWG.
I got it to work using USB so I am good to go now. I am guessing to create a local network I need a router or maybe a switch?
I am enjoying this oscilloscope. I am under the impression (not being able to find it) that there is no averaging mode like I am used to. Perhaps it is implemented under another name.

I did have to wait two months, so I am a bit giddy. Thank you for all the help. I knew using this forum would garner results.

If you have a wired LAN to your bench then only a switch is needed.

Yep it's not where you'd ordinarily think it was but more appropriately in the Acquire menu.

If you have a USB mouse try that with this scope too as I find it helps speed up UI use beyond what is even possible with the touch display.

Enjoy, mine's stuck with Defpom after he did a review with it and I can't get it back until after the NZ lockdown.

Strange ... I have looked everywhere for an averaging mode without success. Even searched the manual for the word 'average' ... nothing found.
Went to the Acquire menu but did not see it there.

It's in the dropdown menu, see below. Note this is a SDS5000X however the meu structure and UI is very similar to SDS2000X Plus.
Use touch or a mouse to access it.

OK, haven't got mine here so try looking in Math or Analysis.

The thread for these is here and you might get replies from others that have one in front of them unlike me.  :(

Update: Solved.
Averages is a Maths function therefore in the Maths menu.
