R&S RTM3004 wrong ARINC decoding
« on: October 31, 2024, 07:39:33 pm »
Hello folks,

Sharing here a very weird problem with my RTM3004 scope. I've spent also time with the R&S support folks, but we're running circles, so any help is welcome.

My RTM3004 always display all ARINC packets as error decoding. Other protocols work well, but ARINC shows unexisting timing issues.

I've recorded a video to show the following steps:
- Reset to factory the scope
- Setup channel, trigger levels and decoding parameters

Same signal is perfectly decoded in both a Agilent MSO-X-3024 and on a Picoscope 3000. I've tried with signals generated from my equipment but also from real avionics HW, so I'm confident they are correct.

The signal is 12.5Kb. It becomes even more interesting because when I opened the case with R&S they asked me to send them the raw capture data from scope + the settings file. I did so and they mentioned the settings were to 'manual speed, 50Kb'. That's not true, I double checked and the settings are low-speed, 12.5k.

So, the R&S support engineer shared with me a settings file that for sure is set to low-speed, 12.5Kb and when I loaded into my scope... It shows as 'Manual, 50Kb'  :-//

It seems for some reason my particular scope has both settings somehow crossed (????). So I'm completely confused here.

Please find the video here

This video shows me loading the R&S provided file, which was supposed to be set to 12.5Kb ...

Thanks!

Got your PM - definitely odd behavior.  I'll PM you and we'll see if we can figure this out and then post up the answer.
