R&S SMU200A hard disk head crash
« on: October 03, 2024, 07:21:11 am »
Hi,
I have an SMU 200A which worked well until the hard disk experienced a head crash some days ago...  >:(
I extracted the disk, it's a standard SATA 2.5", so it can be easily replaced with a modern SSD.
The problems are:
- obtain a disk image
- enable licenses for installed options
- perform calibration if necessary

Any experience about this?

Thanks
Andrea

I checked google (and xdevs), but no found recovery disk images..

However, there was firmware (applications) on xdevs.

Let's install the winXP (Pro would be better) and applications and hope it works.

Apparently, if anyone has a working hdd, they can create a recovery disk from the boot manager. If you wait, you might find it.

I have the following

- 14057384T0100_ FMR9GP0101.iso (SMU Recovery Disk)
- RECOVERY_DVD_AIO_FMR679_SMx_0350.iso

Combined size is over 3 GB.  I have never tried these (and don't have an SMU to try them on) and I couldn't provide any support for this, but I'm happy to upload them somewhere if that would be helpful.

Might be worth contacting R&S support first - they might be able to provide a direct link or other docs for the recovery process.

What's the condition of the disk?

Thanks,
we could give a try to these restore disks!

The disk is completely inoperative, BIOS doesn't detect it at all, continuous clicking and metal friction noises.

If I'm not mistaken the licence keys are on the chasis behind the cover. Not sure tho...

Hi
My SMU - HDD crashed as well, so it would be very helpful, if you could upload the two .iso files  somwhere.

Thanks in advance
