Hello. I have no experience with this type of generator and would like to ask for advice. My task is to generate an arbitrary pulse signal triggered by a 1PPS reference signal (trigger). I have an R&S RTB2002 oscilloscope without generator function. And I would like to ask you who has had experience with the RTB-B6. Can this generator generate pulses from an external trigger? And if not, I have a choice between R&S HMF2525 and Keysight 33511B. Is there an option in these generators to set the frequency to 10,000,000.0001 MHz? I need this for other tasks. I have an RTB2004 with the B6 generator option and I do not see any settings to allow for external triggering or modulation of the generator outputs. |

I need this for other tasks. --- End quote --- The jitter performance of the HMF2525 is not great so I'd skip that one. I have good experiences with using the Tektronix AFG31000 series for use in precise timing / phase / frequency shifting related measurements to simulate long term drift / frequency offsets in time references. I expect the Keysight 33511B to be on par performance wise but I have no hands on experience with that generator. The best way forward is to make sure to actually measure (using a test setup) whether the function generator you get, can actually do what you require. A lot of details which do matter don't make it into the specifications. In other words: get a unit on loan for evaluation before committing to buying one. |
