RTB2004 enhancements
Harjit:
Been using the RTB2004 and ran into some suboptimal situations and wanted to get input from experts and see if I should file for feature enhancements.
1. Instead of fixing the trigger to the left/middle/right, have the ability to let the user set the position.
2. Extend #1 to have five presets instead of the three. Use pressing the Horizontal position knob to cycle between them.
3. Channel vertical rearrangement
a) Swap channel position while keeping the scale the same.
Currently, one has to select the channel, move it to almost the final position, then select the other, move it to the final position, then select the first channel and move it to the final position.
b) When moving a channel, instead of overlaying the move, swap with the one in the direction. One will have to select whether to "jump past" vs overlay. I totally get that overlaying channels is incredibly important and useful.
4. In the Math on waveforms, add ability to filter waveform - specify corner frequency, filter type (high, band, low) and it is applied to the incoming channel.
5. Ability to do math on more than two channels.
6. Show pairs/triple waveforms as vectors on a polar plot.
KrzysztofB:
I'd say, that RTB2004 is on the market for pretty a while and it's very unlikely to see any of things you mentioned.
Also some of those feels like things you will find in more advanced scopes.
Sad to say but RTB2004 is basic scope.
But we can always hope. Maybe they actually decide to change UI to be like in new series scopes... (probably not :-DD)
If so I'd gladly install it on mine, but being realist i'm saving money to get new scope maybe 5 years from now.
mhsprang:
I think the most suboptimal issue with this scope is that its weight is too low or the buttons press too heavy. Whatever button or knob I press, the scope moves backward.
As for the trigger point: what's wrong with just moving the horizontal position around?

It was possibel to do this with the older model like the HMO2024, but I guess R&S delete it because
it was to useful and they like to use it only for the more expensive model.

Have you ever seen the newer scope from all company that hit the market today? In future they will
try to sell us some Tektroniks-Glue or R&S-Clamp to connect the scope to the desktop. :-DD
I was shocked the last day for the low mechanical quality of new scopes like Tek Series 2
or other types from different company at the Embedded.
The world goes Rigol now....

I had the same problem with mine. The 'stickyness' between the scope feet and my desk had disappeared. After cleaning all surfaces it now works fine. If I push hard enough the scope will topple, but it dose not move.
