Tektronix TLA714 to remote server connection
« on: December 18, 2016, 01:11:09 pm »
Hello,
I've got a TLA714 mainframe with a TLA7N3 and TLA7D1 modules installed. The TLA714 is running TLA SW 5.1 SP1. I would like to use a newer TLA SW version on a networked client system.

I first tried TLA SW 5.8 on the client (a Windows Vista machine). With TLA 5.8, I could connect to the TLA714 on the network. However, neither of the modules were recognized. Viewing "System Properties", it reported "Unsupported device" for both of the modules.

Well, one problem was that I was running FW version 4.x on the TLA7N3. Using a updated firmware file for the module, I successfully upgraded the firmware on the TLA7N3 to version 5.5.

However, this still did not seem to fix the problem. Looking through the release notes for 5.8, it wasn't clear that either the TLA7N3 or TLA7D1 were supported. So, I uninstalled TLA SW 5.8 and installed version 5.7. The release notes for this version specifically list the TLA7N/P/Qx in the SW version table. (NO mention of the DSO module, unfortunately) Unfortunately, still no change. I can connect to the TLA714 just fine, but bring ing up system properties, it reports two unsupported devices. (See screen capture attachment)

My next attempt will be to try an even earlier version of the client SW. Perhaps 5.5?

Does anyone else have a similar configuration that they are successfully using?

Did you stop de client software on the logic analyser itself?
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.
