SDG1032X refuses to upgrade
« on: November 28, 2024, 12:17:19 am »
Hi everyone.  I recently picked up a Siglent SDG1032X and have been trying to upgrade to the SDG1062X using the script found here https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/siglent-sdg1000x-waveform-generators/msg4395403/#msg4395403.

The script runs, the 30M key matches my machine, I enter the 60M key then check and it still reports SDG1032X. I tried rebooting the SDG and it still reports SDG1032X.

My SDG software version is 1.01.01.33R1,  hardware is 02-01-00-24-00

Am I missing something?

Thanks!

try again with nothing in scope id ??

and have you rebooted  once you applied the mcbd xxxxxx serial ?

i have done so far 3 of them,  no problems

--------------------------------
Here are the bandwidth codes,  same as you  ???

but i used  the usb port, rhode schwartz visa drivers who contain tester tools to communicate, 32 and 64 bits included

30M   G4IP4FQQFE4RN2IH

60M   H2TGG25QPK97X3DS

i used the universal siglent keygen  from here, option 1 and 3,     and a different one,    same results  ???

Yes, I reboot immediately after attempting to assign the new value using "MCBD H2TGG25QPK97X3DS"
When I set the scopeid to "", the 30M value returned doesn't match the number returned by the AWG when I run "MCBD?".
It seems odd that different serial numbers would generate the same 30M and 60M codes.

Hmmm.

They don't. Each S/N has its own codes.

When you reach the point of being able to recreate the MCBD? response, you will able to generate any new valid code.

you need the 30m  to match 1st as you guessed in the generated codes ...     there was at some point  scope scripts and gens scripts  ... confusions,   i was  loll

if not the 60m upgrade will not work, since it will not be valid as an sn upgrade

MCBD?  should give you the infos,  as tv84 wrote

since any equipment has its own SN, and ID  no given codes of others  unlocked ones  will work

try with USB connection ...

Try the attached instead. I made a cleaned up version for something else, but this should work for you too.

Thanks. I tried it and it generates the same 60M key as the other scripts. I suspect the key isn't the problem, but what happens after.
Is there a way to reboot besides cycling power on the AWG?

These are what I get from MCBD?
30M   G4IP4FQQFE4RN2IH4
and this is what I get when I run the script:
60M   H2TGG25QPK97X3DS

Try updating your firmware. What you have is over 5 years outdated.

Try the attached instead. I made a cleaned up version for something else, but this should work for you too.

Far from being complete, you miss many frequencies,   corrected a few

import hashlib

# SCOPEID?
SCOPEID = 'SDG1XCAC3R0567'
Model = 'SDG1000X'

to modify :
bwopt = ('30M','40M','60M','100M','120M','150M','200M','350M','500M','AWG','WIFI','MSO','FLX','CFD','I2S','1553','PWA','MANC','SENT','A429')

gives     and they are the same ??

30M   G4IP4FQQFE4RN2IH

60M   H2TGG25QPK97X3DS

PLS update your FW before anything else  and report back
now at   Version: V1.01.01.33R8      2024-04-18

Well, yeah. I had set it up for the SDS2504X Plus. He figured that out on his own. 😉

Since the 30M code is OK, then the problem MUST BE in the terminal that you are using to send the license string.

Make sure you don't have needless CR/LF in that thing!

I updated the firmware to 1.01.01.33R8.
Tried again using MS telnet client and Putty.

Under new firmware, behavior has changed when I run either the MS telnet client or putty. When I send MCBD? the response comes back with >> overwriting the first two characters and the string looks like >>IP4FQQFE4RN2IH

I tried MCBD H2TGG25QPK97X3DS and then reboot and it still doesn't update to SDG1062X.

I'll see if I can get in via USB.
