SDM3045X to SDM3055X-E "Improvement" Thread

glitchcatcher:
Something weird is going on.

I downloaded the SDM3055X-E spec sheet ("catalog") from this post: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/siglent-sdm3045x-enough-is-enough/msg3930131/#msg3930131
It states a DC Volts accuracy of 0.015%, which is similar to SDM3055.

However, today I downloaded a similar file from here: https://www.siglent.com/download/?ProId=25 (C05A data sheet, use browser translation feature)
(Direct link: https://www.siglent.com/u_file/download/23_01_18/SDM3055X-E_DataSheet_C05A.pdf)
It states a DC Volts accuracy of 0.06%, which is similar to SDM3045X.

I always thought the SDM3055X-E would be similar to the SDM3055 and not to the SDM3045X, accuracy wise.
Confusing.

Kleinstein:
It makes sense to get 3045 like accuracy for the 3055E, because they are essentially the same hardware. There are still different ranges and thus not direct 1:1 copy, especially for the fixed part and the 3045 can have the odd change of actual range inside it's SW set ranges. Using the correct ranges can give a slight step up, but often not much.
It is only for the noise (excepts for the reference part) and speed that the 3055E should be essentially like the full 3055.

uargo:
The sdm3045X has the same characteristics as the sdm3055X-E because it is the same hardware. The smd3055 has greater precision because it has better hardware.
Video error not happening on my sdm3055

Yes there are differences.
It all started on my hunch:

Antonio90:
I managed to snatch a SDM3045X for very little money in like-new condition, and, while it arrives, I was checking a bunch of shunts I have around.
Do we know if the SCD30A has additional components? Or is it just a big shunt?
Will try to convince it about turning into a SDM6055X-E next weekend, if time allows. Thanks for extracting the relevant info!
