Oh yes, please make them release new FWs as soon as possible, to save us doomed people with the 5.02.01.09R2.

It wasn't a bug, it was a PEBKAC error. 🤷

Has anyone tried the Siglent SCD30A shunt after a successful conversion?
Is the "Option Measure" available in current measure mode?

The shunt manual states: "Suggest only working with SIGLENT SDM series 5 ½ or 6 ½ multimeters."
The SDM3055X-E is a 5 1/2 one.

My SDM3045X definitely doesn't have that option.
Nor does NIB SDM3055.  :-//
Will check SDM3065X soon.

Will try also on return to base. Have shunts in the SHS820X package.
So all I have is a 10A shunt that's std with the SHS800X range.

No SCD30A to test.  :(

From pricelist description:
90 USD
Digital multimeter 30A current shunt-1mV/A, DC ~ 1 kHz ±0.3%, 1 kHz ~ 5 kHz ±5%, 30Vac RMS MAX, 60Vdc MAX (only compatible with SDM series multimeters which are 4 1/2 or above)

No SCD30A to test.  :(

HQ confirmed SCD30A the 30A external shunt is detected at boot and then Option Measure becomes available.
Hoping one will arrive in the next few weeks for checks and tests with all SDM models.

with all SDM models.

You need to test on a SDM3055X-E also. 😉

I found a bug in my SDM3045X meter.
Settings: DC current, 6mA range, Speed slow, Filter on.
To trigger the bug, either apply 2mA and slowly increase it slightly above 2.2mA, or just apply a current above 2.2mA but below 3.4mA.

This video shows it:
https://youtu.be/DAokqU_EXNc

Maybe They™ will release a new firmware so people with 5.02.01.09R2 can finally improve this box!

Report the bug!

Something weird is going on.

I downloaded the SDM3055X-E spec sheet ("catalog") from this post: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/siglent-sdm3045x-enough-is-enough/msg3930131/#msg3930131
It states a DC Volts accuracy of 0.015%, which is similar to SDM3055.

However, today I downloaded a similar file from here: https://www.siglent.com/download/?ProId=25 (C05A data sheet, use browser translation feature)
(Direct link: https://www.siglent.com/u_file/download/23_01_18/SDM3055X-E_DataSheet_C05A.pdf)
It states a DC Volts accuracy of 0.06%, which is similar to SDM3045X.

I always thought the SDM3055X-E would be similar to the SDM3055 and not to the SDM3045X, accuracy wise.
Confusing.

It makes sense to get 3045 like accuracy for the 3055E, because they are essentially the same hardware. There are still different ranges and thus not direct 1:1 copy, especially for the fixed part and the 3045 can have the odd change of actual range inside it's SW set ranges. Using the correct ranges can give a slight step up, but often not much.
It is only for the noise (excepts for the reference part) and speed that the 3055E should be essentially like the full 3055.

The sdm3045X has the same characteristics as the sdm3055X-E because it is the same hardware. The smd3055 has greater precision because it has better hardware.
Video error not happening on my sdm3055

Yes there are differences.
It all started on my hunch:

I managed to snatch a SDM3045X for very little money in like-new condition, and, while it arrives, I was checking a bunch of shunts I have around.
Do we know if the SCD30A has additional components? Or is it just a big shunt?
Will try to convince it about turning into a SDM6055X-E next weekend, if time allows. Thanks for extracting the relevant info!

Not sure yet.....run outta time before hols to test in detail.
With SDM3055 it does not autodetect at boot.
I suspect it requires a current load through it at boot to then select current measure mode and then SCD30A from the menu to have the shunt value correct.

Thanks! I don't think a weekend would suffice for that convincing  ;D

Anyone successful updating the 3045X that has the 5.02.01.09R2 firmware?

You won't be able to until a new firmware is released. There has to be an upgradable firmware to modify before you can switch versions.

I thought you'd have to modify the 3055x-e firmware in order to upgrade the 3045x.  What would you need the new 3045x firmware for?

IIRC the line that's patched in the 3055X-E fw is taken from an older version of the 3045X fw. That line won't match your current firmware, so it will fail.
