What is the VGA configuration?
Variable Gain Amplifier.  They are used in the front ends of scopes (and possibly other places)..

Thank you. So, what sort of improvement should we expect by this update/ optimisation?

I'm just a bit nervous to update the o'scope in case it messes up with the offset as already mentioned...

Not sure why they would do it.  Maybe gain sets were off a little.

And is this VGA only related to the hardware 09 issue as per previous update?

Ha, you're fast. I read tons of posts of @TV84 so I could dig deeper and found that the VGA chip must be the LMH6518 (which by the way has the ability to limit the input bandwidth programmatically).

Well, maybe, but in this case I can't take credit.  I saw the teardown that Dave did on it.  The VGA was pointed out in that vid.

So far all teardowns of SDS1104X-E shows ad8370 as a VGA chip (hw ver 05). This one is hw ver 09 and I haven't found any pictures on what this new VGA might be.
Can you share the video/pics?

Sorry, I left too much out.  I was talking bout his teardown of the SDS2354XP.
