Title: SDS1104X-E Web Server Doesn't UPdate
Post by: ndcube on January 17, 2021, 12:58:51 am
I'm new to oscilloscopes and just purchased an SDS1104X-E.  One of the main features I was hoping to use was the web server.

I got it connected to my LAN and start the webpage and was able to navigate to Instrument control.

I am able to expand and drive the scope with the on screen buttons but the display canvas does not update.  It is stuck on the original image of the scope's screen when the page was loaded.

I am currently using chrome but have also tried edge, firefox and even the old IE.

Has anyone experienced this?  I plan to contact Siglent but being the weekend I thought I'd see if anyone else had a clue about this.  Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

When you assigned an IP to the scope did you hit Save ?

Thank you.  I did press save.  I actually tried with DHCP and Static IP so I could remove my router from the equation and connect direct to PC.

I can get to the web page, push the buttons and control the scope. It's just the display image doesn't update.  Waveform is static and menus don't move even though they are on the physical scope.

Also, I managed to install EasyScopeX and USB driver and that seems to work as expected although it seems a bit clumsy compared to what the web page should be.

Image attached.  Thanks again,

Edit:  I know the image doesn't really show that nothing is happening.  I just wanted to show that I could get to the page.  The waveform doesn't change from the initial page load.

You can do that however it's much simpler if you use a LAN switch or one of the ports on your router.

Some care about the IP they assign to the scope however when you don't just let DHCP sort it out, press Save to capture settings to the scope and then turn DHCP OFF.

I suspect you have left DHCP ON.

Yes, DHCP is currently on and the scope is connected back to my network since connecting directly to the PC didn't make a difference.

I don't think the network settings of the scope are the issue.

So just for kicks, I downgraded firmware to 6.1.33 (Mine was preinstalled with 6.1.35R2).  No effect.  Then tried 6.1.26.  Now the web server works as it should.

I would be curious if anyone else running 6.1.33 or 6.1.35R2  have any issues with the web server.

Here 6.1.35R2 and it work. Not use dhcp as this scope not work well with dhcp

They are because you still have DHCP ON. Turn it OFF and use the LAN settings it has discovered that you should have already saved.

I'm still not convinced DHCP has anything to do my my issue.  However, I did flash back to the 35R2 firmware to test with DHCP off per your instructions.  Before I could turn it off I checked the web page and it was working with 35R2.  So I have no idea.  Maybe there was something corrupt and flashing to 26 and back again fixed the issue.

Good, seems you have it sorted.  :)

Like I mentioned before peer to peer (scope to PC) connections are possible however not as straightforward as connecting to your LAN to let the router assign the IP when the scopes DHCP discovery is ON and then save the IP to the scope, turn DHCP OFF and use the saved IP for connection from a PC through your LAN.
This way is more reliable for the IP novice and in general as with the many routers out there it's never known how IP lease settings have been set.
Once you let your router assign the IP and then save it and turn the scopes DHCP discovery OFF this method has been rock solid stable and reliable for the many Siglent instruments I've connected to my LAN to access with a PC.

A year or so back one of our beta testers opened a port on his router for a few days and allowed a select few access to his SVA1000X in Ohio where we were able to drive it via its webserver from NZ ! I even grabbed a screenshot as proof that I'd been there !  :-DD
Set it all up right and it just works fine.  ;)

I own an SDS1204X-E scope and had the same problem.
I tried ndcube suggestion, see reply #5, and it succeeded.
I downgraded the firmware to 6.1.26 and then upgraded it back to 6.1.35R2.
Now the web server works as it should.
