I played with Bode plots with my SDG2122 (born as 2042) and it works very well via IP network.
But it would be nice to control the Sig Gen also for „simple“ tasks like a internal Gen of the SDS2000x+ (as example) from the scope.

That's a fun idea. They could add an option in the settings to define which AWG you're controlling and whether you want to control an internal or external AWG. Set the IP, and go. The scopes are already capable of remote control, so now it's a matter of adding manual control of the external device. Shouldn't be too hard to do, but whether they'd do it or not is a different story.

Like my idea a few years ago when I had the 2000Xplus.
And that was to decode infrared remote control signals.
After all, Siglent EU support politely asked me what it could be used for. ;)

If they had done it, Siglent would have been the only brand.
But who cares about remote control signals except me. 8)

My wish list:

- control of an external SDG Siglent Generator via scope UI, not only for Bode plots and with SAG1021

I can think of the benefit of controlling through the oscilloscope UI, which is that it is easier to control through a large touch screen, but this feature is not easy to implement because there are various models of external signal sources. If you want to fully support all the functions of all signal sources, it is equivalent to rewriting the UI of multiple signal sources, which will be a very large workload, and most people have their signal source right beside them, which can be directly controlled. If only a few simple signal output types are supported, then this feature is relatively easy to implement.

Quote
- copy F-channel settings to another F-channel

Agree, this is a good requirement.

Quote
- math operations with numerical measurements (Vpp(ch1)/Vpp(ch2) as example)

What are the specific application scenarios of this feature and what problems can it solve? Vpp (ch1)/Vpp (ch2) are just ratios, isolated points without units

Controlling full standalone generator from scope screen is not very practical or useful idea.
You already have full user interface on the gen, buttons knobs and all.

Mostly used scenario is that you tweak something on a AWG and simultaneously watch the scope for changes  in signal, tweaking scope setting along the way.
You cannot do that on same screen at the same tome...

It depends on your setting. My Gen is on the shelf above my bench where my SDS sits. Eyes on the screen, one hand on the probe, other hand on the mouse.

Some Siglent SDS have an inbuilt gen as my SDS2000x+. Why not open the existing functionality (also the SDS800 has it) for external Gens?
And to make it clear, I request only base functionality.

Don't get me wrong.
I don't mind if they add this.

I'm just saying that for me I would not use it and explained how and why. Sort of like a vote. From me : I don't need it. Rest of you do your thing. Live and let live.

Still, it would be just a scalar number while the existing Math functions deal with time series, right? Seems like a new category of math -- "math on measurements" or "derived measurements" or such. I am not sure where it should reside in the UI, and whether adding that new category to the UI is worthwhile for the benefit it gives.

IMO, a scalar result should be displayed like other measurements (mean, max, min, histogram,...).
OTOH, an expression like CH1/max(CH1) would still be a function of time, i.e. a math trace.

If all other users are like you, just support simple types, this requirement is easy.
But once it is supported, the requirements will continue to come from different customers. For manufacturers, the cost-effectiveness is very low.

It is not that simple.

Some measurements are multi measurements (thousands of measurements in single trace, one for each period) and some are for whole captured record (like P-P).
Mixing measurements into math channels is not trivially possible as it is.

Creating a separate math formula entry for measurements might be, but here measurements are also mixed scalar and one dimension matrix depending on type. That would need to be sorted out.

Since my experience with modern high end scopes is limited to my two Siglent scopes I have no idea if this kind of „scalar math“ is available on other brands?

The best scope I had in my lab during my University time was a russian 50 MHz scope…. long time ago. Now for me this is all about hobby and learning.

Some high end LeCroy scopes have Custom measurements, but that is basically API for user scripts in several languages..
So you can, for instance, use custom MATLAB function to calculate something.
No such thing as direct integration like it is discussed here.

If they had done it, Siglent would have been the only brand.
But who cares about remote control signals except me. 8)

OK, now I want one of those adaptors.... did you make it?

I received the adapter as a gift from my boss at the time, it looks like a purchased part.
But you can also build it yourself:

If there are any new bugs or requirements in the future, I will update here.

Bugs:
1. After saving the reference waveform, clicking the save button will restore it to png type.
2. Some parameters have not been restored after selfcal, such as fft vertical gear, fft markers, and channel vertical settings.
3. After restarting, the vertical gear of FFT did not restored.
4. There have been crashes when using CAN and IIC decoding. The probability of reproduction is relatively low.
5. The universal knob can only set the history frame when opening the menu, and should be able to operate the list when closing the menu.
6. When the menu disappears, the universal knob light is still on, and at this time, the universal knob is used to change the brightness of the waveform.

Requirements:
1. Support custom channel colors.
2. Support fine adjustment for the timebase.
3. Support simultaneous viewing of xy and yt waveforms.
4. Pressing the autosetup button does not require confirmation and provides a configurable menu.
5. Move the channel invert between the probe and the label.
6. The Save button under the Bode Plot does not work. Modify it to save the image according to the Bode Plot print settings.
7. UI supports setting hostname and domain.
8. Click the physical button to move forward and backward. When operating the history frame, only one frame will be changed. If long pressed, it will accelerate.
9. The position of the mouse on the list can also be changed by using the scroll wheel to change the current frame.
10. Changing the scroll wheel on the scrollbar should also change the current frame.
11. When the decode frame limit is exceeded, the decoding result of saving the complete data frame can be achieved by automatically changing the horizontal position, re decoding, and saving.
12. When the decode frame limit is exceeded, it is possible to automatically change the horizontal position, re decoding, and search for the desired result.
13. Control different external siglent sdg.
14. Copy the math channel to another math channel.
15. Math operator supports measuring parameters.
16. The data sheet needs to add a decoding maximum frame limit.
17. Wildcards in the equality condition for serial ID and/or Data triggers, like it is already implemented for SPI.

I would add one thing to the network related desires:
Add Wake on LAN (magic packet, nothing fancier).
After all, with 4 W power consumption in standby, it might be awake enough to handle that.
(might or might not be at possible depending on the used NIC, though).

PS: this comes from a very self serving opportunity, I've been mobility challenged by a broken leg, so I had set up the scope and a DUT to have some fun from bed.
I could control the DUT via PC (used in remote access), same for the home built PSU, and obviously the VNC connected scope but I still had to go to the bench to turn it on !

I'm sorry to hear that. This is a reasonable requirement for you. Let me add it first. This function may not be possible, but there is an alternative solution. The oscilloscope has a "Auto Power On" function, opening this function, and you need a WiFi power socket. By opening the power socket through WiFi, the oscilloscope can be opened. The WiFi power socket costs a few dollars approximately in china.

If there are any new bugs or requirements in the future, I will update here.

You can add to no. 5 and no.6:
When operating history, and measuring with cursers, history is changed simultaneously.

Requirement No. 11, is how it works currently, but should be changed to be used in export automatically (For the whole captured waveform).
Requirement No. 12 is the same?

Requirement No. 17: Wildcards for every position, and not the first two bytes of the data.

Another thing i found (corrent me if i am wrong):
The save button should remember what i want to save.
The quick button is not really quick for saving a screenshot.

More:
The scrollbar is very thin in the filemanager.
I can not simply choose a file to overwrite. (Thats a real bad one to miss in my opinion)
The keyboard has no spacebar. And the screen would be big enough, to show more or even all buttons of it.

I'm sorry to hear that.
Thanks for the consideration and support!
But no worries, I'm out of the cast since three of days, and "quickly" recovering (walked 1.5 km yesterday, instead of my usual 20) - that was just what sparked the request.

I got that one wrong: "The save button should remember what i want to save."
For example, if i setup "save jpg", for the "save button", and then i just saved the settings with the menu, i dont want to change the save button. I want to assign a "save type" just like for the quick button. ("save jpg" for the quick button is not quick/useful, as it only opens the menu for saving jpg ).

Tried to use the uart decode feature... Not really helpful in my case...

(Yes the picture shows CAN, but its about how it could be done better, and this applies to other decode protocolls too.)

SDS800X HD does not support a WiFi dongle, only WiFi access is via a mini WiFi AP router configured in Bridge mode to access local WiFi access points.
TP Link TL-WR802N is the one I current use.

We hope Siglent will reevaluate their decision not to have 800X HD support WiFi and instead offer the convenience of WiFi connectivity like SDS2000X-E, SDS12/1104X-E has.
