Sds800x missing software options
« on: December 05, 2024, 05:40:08 am »
Hello all,

I'm a bit confused about my new SDS804X HD. When I go to software options I see the 30 remaining trials of the SDS800XHD-PA. But that is literally the only option type available to me. I thought there were a plethora of potential upgrade options I could eventually use, but now I'm worried I'm limited because I went with the cheapest 4 port option.

Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks in advance everyone.

Also I picked up a SDG wave form generator and was wondering if there's a way to hook them together to where the oscope can control it in some capacity, not necessary really just curious. I thought there was an option to turn on a wave Gen within the oscope but again I've only got the power analyzer option available to purchase.

3. Standard software functions of FG and LA.

'AWG' and 'MSO' license is now standard. no need to activate it.

There were only 3 at release and as member hp lee points out, with latest firmware there is now just one.

The only FG/AWG the scope can directly control is the USB module SAG1021I and IMO you made the better choice getting a SDG to pair with it.

In Bode plot mode the scope takes control of SDG models to provide the stimulus waveforms for FRA.
You can read lots about FRA capabilities here, albeit with the SDS**04X-E models:

Thank you both so much! That put my mind at ease. My wife is buying me the logic analyzer for an Xmas gift for me and I was worried I wouldn't be able to use it. Would you recommend a third party logic analyzer like I did with the wave Gen or is the add on plenty good enough?

Out of curiosity, is the developer password available somewhere or does it need to be reverse engineered? I'm a big fan of having full control of my hardware that I paid for.

SPL1016 is perfectly fine for basic LA needs.
