Title: Should I buy a JBC CD-1BQE ? Opinions on the DR560 ?
Post by: lame_turtle on September 14, 2020, 07:18:47 pm
Hello,

Trying to decide on buying a soldering iron, my budget is 800€ tops and I would need a soldering iron and a desoldering iron (pump) but I understand the budget is tight for both.
I can find the JBC for 360€ right now, but I understand jbc has discontinued and replaced the iron with a not yet released one which I guess will be far more expensive than 360.
The price on the jbc seems really good to me and leaves me a good space till 800€ to buy tips.
Is there a better choice at this price point ? Maybe a station that could take a desoldering iron too ? Should I wait for the new model ?

Thank you for any input

Update: So I decided to spend the money for the whole set and buy a jbc DDE station with a dr560 for desoldering .
There are not a whole of reviews on the dr560 and some people even say a hakko fr would be better or easier to use.
Anyone here having real world experience and has compared with another desoldering tool ?
Please any input would be greatly appreciated.

hi,
I recently got JBC 2bqe, it's excelent .
I worked with metcals for 2 years in a shop (hand soldering, I had 3 stations on the bench) and other stuff along 2 decades (at least 5 other lower cost soldering irons, including one manufactured by a company I worked based on the sl30 but portable, 12-24VDC).
well, the 2bqe gives almost the same result as double-priced metcals, that's why I bought one for myself, sometimes I need to push real heat power into large ground planes.
you choosed well with jbc.
