I recently got a Siglent SDG2082X and now I am contemplating whether I should let go of my Agilent 33521A.  I don't use my equipment professionally so I sort of feel bad having 2 AWGs laying in my bench when one would perfectly suffice.  And probably with the proceeds of the Agilent, I would be able to get some additional stuff for the bench like a better power suppply and/or a programmable load.

But at the same time, I don't want to let go of the Agilent because well, it is an Agilent.  The Siglent is good and it does the job (plus it's dual channel) but there is just something about the Agilent that gives you that feeling of trust and reliability.

If you were in my situation, would you let go of the Agilent or hold on to it?

If it where me, I would just keep them both, like in almost all fields there are never too much of anything. Besides more channels are available.  :D
Will think about it.

I'd keep the Agilent 100 times over before keeping the Siglent - *unless* selling the Agilent will allow you to purchase some other gear you really want that the Siglent can't pay for.

Hi

I'd say it's a bit early in the Siglent's life to dump the HP. Like you, I have a 2082X, they still have a few things to work out before it's rough edges are all taken care of. That's not a knock, it's a new instrument. We'll see how good it really is after they have a year or so to fix this or that. If the fixes work and they all are firmware based, it could be a great gizmo.

To be honest, and on the risk of a beating. I was the one wanting the 33125 (the one with the Noritake VFD), while SWIMBO was pushing for the TEK AWG2021.

After I was able to handle the HP at a friends for a few minutes, I owe the hiss a beer. I found the VFD menu of the HP unbearable compared to the svelte CRT display of the Tek...but that, ofc, is a question of taste.

Re selling gear. It always is a sad moment having to say goodbye tho. So if you want to keep the unit and dont need the green (and have space), hold on to it by all means.
