Rigol DG1022Z unlock

I tried to unlock my new DG1022Z. I have read all the posts on this, including the DP832 post that includes the DG1000Z info.  I am using Linux and the telnet works fine, *IDN? shows me the correct info, but when I type :PROJ:SET MODEL,DG1062Z with plugged in usb with keyfile.bin it gives me an error. The firmware on my DG1022Z is 03.01.12, not sure if this makes a difference. Thanks for any help.

 This, on my recent DG1022Z -> 1062Z  and DP832 -> 832A.

My system is Ubuntu 20.04 and i'd send SCPI commands via USB port.
For DP832, command line is :PROJ:SET MODEL,DP832A but for DG, it's not the same :
:PROJ:STAT MODEL,DG1062Z    ( STAT, not SET !).

In addition of changing model from DG1022z to DG1062z, 16M memory option can be enabled as well.   

Looks like riglol has not yet been updated to support generating the license codes for DG1000z series.   But there is updated version found here: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/need-help-hacking-dp832-for-multicolour-option/msg2538783/#msg2538783

Attached is patch against riglol-1.1.2 based on changes found in the original post (above). You can download riglol-1.2.2 sources and apply this patch, then compile...

For the ver upgrade you really need the USB thumb drive to be re-partitioned with a <4GB FAT partition (not NTFS, not FAT32), or you'll get the error you are getting otherwise.

Also no need to restore previous firmware, it works perfectly fine on the 03.01.12 too and so is the Arb16mb Option. I've upgraded mine (also 03.01.12) without a glitch; other than having to re-partition a USB drive to FAT, all worked great.

ok I installed Ultra Signma, and the german program.  Tried to run the command and these are the results in Ultra Sigma

I obscured my serial of course.  not sure what the problem is.  I created a 2GB USB FAT formatted with keyfile.bin.

Sounds like you had created FAT32 file system, I had same issue when I had used mkfs.vfat on Linux to create the file system (it worked after recreating filesystem using mkfs.fat)....

Ok, finally got my dg1022z hacked to dg1062z. Been reading on how to unlock the 16mb arb, u did see that I can change the serial number, but I would like to activate without changing my serial number.

FIRST-HALF SOLVED - 60MHz upgrade is now successful - Big Old Noob Operator Error = I forgot to move the USB Drive over to the DG1032Z Function Generator. Doh! There's an hour of my life that I'm not going to get back. The egg breakfast is on me. Enjoy! Maybe my error will save someone else the time, frustration and embarrassment. All good and all grins.
However, I still would like to set the serial number to mine and turn off the everlasting trial status. Directions?

I see that other folks have had trouble with their non-FAT thumb drives, but mine says it is a FAT (only; no 16, etc.)

I have the keyfile on the thumb drive as an individual file and within the keyfile folder, so UltraSigma should be able to find it either way. Both files are extracted. Well, unless the file should still be zipped, which I can't imagine. And, there is nothing else on the drive.

I wonder if putting my serial number back to its true number is as easy as going back through the procedure and entering it at the :PROJ:STAT SN,DG1ZA000000000 step. I also wonder if it is necessary to enter this false serial number, at all. I imagine so, as the folks that developed the means required it.

I greatly appreciate the information that I found in this thread. I could not have accomplished the upgrade without it. However, I found it difficult to find a complete set of step by step instructions that I could understand with just my limited Noob computer knowledge. So, I am posting them, in hopes of helping someone...

Full Disclosure (Warning? <grin>) - I am a Big Old Computer Noob. This information may very likely be incorrect. It might damage, break, or brick your equipment. Use at your own risk. I take no responsibility for its use.

Two quirks to know about, before starting...
1) The license status is changed to "trial," but it never ends.
2) Your serial number is reset to DG1ZA000000000.
These changes are displayed on the System Information page. I am investigating how to change them back. There may be other means of doing the upgrade that avoid these quirks, I am not sure.

Procedure
- Install National Instruments NI Protocol on your computer. Rigol's Ultra Sigma program requires it. It does not have to be launched - it runs in the background, somehow.

- Install Rigol Ultra Sigma program on your computer. This program talks to your function generator, via the NI protocol.

- Download and extract this keyfile to a FAT (plain FAT - no 16/ etc. = emphasis!) thumb drive. https://www.mediafire.com/file/t6r99upgs6h2agy/keyfile.7z/file
- Move the thumb drive to the Rigol 10xxZ Function Generator USB port.
- Attach the Function Generator to your computer with a USB AtoB Cable.
- Open Ultra Sigma.
- The Rigol 10xxZ Function Generator should populate to the menu.
- Right Click on unit. Select SCP Panel Control.
- Copy/paste and Send this code.
:PROJ:STAT MODEL,DG1062Z
You should get an “Okay” confirmation. If not, check the Thumb Drive.
- Copy/paste and Send this code.
:PROJ:STAT SN,DG1ZA000000000
You should get an “Okay” confirmation. If not, check the Thumb Drive.
- Close Ultra Sigma.
- Shutdown the Rigol 10xxZ Function Generator.
- Remove the Thumb Drive.
- Turn the Rigol 10xxZ Function Generator back on.
- Press the Utility Function Button.
- Press the Menu Down Button to go to the next page of the menu.
- Select the System Information Button. It will confirm the upgrade to DG1062Z. The “Trial” status will never end and your serial number will be set to something generic “DG1ZA0000x.”

Please let me know what is not correct, or said poorly.

Any way to get mine back - undo/redo? Thanks for your help. EDIT: The link has directions which look like they will get my serial number reinstated. But, I am not sure about the license status. I have health stuff and I can not think this morning. Will have to investigate later.

It should work if you follow the "6. Install Arb16M option (DG series only), "6B. Upgrade key" section.
