Siglent DSD814X HD Scope Questions
« on: November 09, 2024, 02:49:20 am »
Where do I source the signal to calibrate the included 70 MHz probes? I used the SPO + / - terminals, OK?

I have an PICO 4262 5 MHz 2 Channel HiRes 16 bit USB Scope (excellent for audio work). Of course it has no display. Is it possible to use the DSD814 scope with the PICO USB scope? IF not, can you recommend a portable PC-like tablet or other device to do this? The PICO has BNC Ext Out and USB connection.

I am using the DSD814 Limited BW (20 MHz) when working with audio however it is 'trick' to filter out the higher MHz waveforms. Suggestions?

Thanks, Billy

The "SPO" label has nothing to do with the functionality of the connector below it; it's just a marketing label to let you know that the scope has a "simulated phosphor" display. But yes, the two connectors below it are a ground connection (right) and an output for the 1 kHz probe calibration signal (left).

If you are unfamiliar with modern oscilloscopes, I recommend checking out the user manual. Chapter 6, "Quick Start", is a good starting point.

When searching for information about your scope on this forum or elsewhere online, be sure to spell its model name correctly. It is SDS814X HD.

Not sure what you mean. Do you want to use the SDS814X as a display (monitor) for the PICO scope? That's not supported. What's wrong with connecting the PICO scope to a PC as intended?

Using the limited 20 MHz bandwidth is a good idea, for all signals which don't need higher bandwidth. If you want to limit the bandwidth further, the scope offers FIR filters via its Math functions. See section 19.4 of the user manual.

Oh, and one comment on forum etiquette if I may.

You have 12 posts in total and have opened 9 topics of your own, asking for advice. With a single exception, all of your enquiries have received replies from forum members who tried to help. But with a single exception, there was no follow-up post from you at all.

That's bad style in my opinion. It would be nice to either confirm that the advice helped you solve your issue, or follow up with another question to indicate that you are still interested. Your current approach is frustrating those who tried to help you.

(I am not referring to this thread here -- I just replied a few hours ago and it might still be night-time for you. But noticed the pattern when I checked your posting history to get an idea of your level of experience.)

EDIT, two days later: Ok, it also applies to this thread now. The OP has been back to the forum, has opened yet another new topic with a new question elsewhere, but could not be bothered to reply here. I will make a mental note not to waste any effort on their questions going forward.
