Hi All !!!

i have a problem with a brand new Siglent sdg 805
that a bought in november.
I used it 3-4 times without problem , but today i have problem in booting up the unit.
when i press the power on button the device show in the display the siglent boot image
but it stop with in that image .
Does anyone have any ideas? Is the firmware corrupted ?

I Also did a research in the forum and i found that i can
Reset the Siglent scopes pushing the math button when
Powering up , but i didn't found nothing about the function
Generators.

To me it sounds like a defective unit as opposed to a firmware issue.

My SDG 805, which is also new and has been turned on only a few times, has the same problem--on power up a message reading "kernel starting" appears, stays on the screen and the unit hangs at that point. Was the OP's problem resolved, and how? Thanks.

What country are you in and where did you buy?
Do you have a local Siglent agent?
Contact them or Siglent.

The problem is related to the hardware , it seems to be a defective unit .
Anyway , Siglent offered me a new unit that has been already shipped from Germany.
The customer service at Siglent is fantastic , i've been contacted from Siglent Usa, Siglent Europe and Siglent in China !!!

I am in the U.S. The generator was purchased new on ebay. I'll contact Siglent here. I was hoping to hear of a simple fix but it seems no such luck this time. Thanks much for the replies.

It think it is good to note, even when there is "readme" file in package.
It is important to follw special instruction because this is not as usual Siglent update process.

It NEED first update special transition update between previous and new version.

The reason to avoid the problem that SDG800 may stuck at the logo interface when booting
Tools: U-disk
Steps:

Step1.
First you must update the transition file SDG800 Vp07-to-p08-transition.ADS
Step2.
After the transition updated, you can update the normal version SDG800 V100R008B01D01P08.ADS

I'm having this problem now, I haven't used my 805 in a while so I'm pretty sure it is out of warranty. I can't install the firmware update, because it is stuck on the splash screen so I can't get to the update menu. Is there a way around this?

Contact Trio in AUS or did you bring it in from overseas ?

They've got a 3 year warranty and the build date can be estimated by the #'s preceding the last 4 in the serial #.

All SDG800 models need to updated to P12R2 firmware to avoid boot fail problems:

I bought it near mint second hand. Would have only been used a few times by the previous user (if at all). I'm not 100% sure where it came from originally, but the warranty void sticker is still intact.

digits before the last four are "0000214", is this Feb 2014?

Yep, as I understand it. Maybe 2nd production run 2014.

Is there no way to put this unit into DFU or something like that? Attach a JTAG or something? (I know the answer is probably no, but I figured I would ask anyway)

I'm pretty low on funds at the moment (between work), and shipping this thing to Trio is probably going to cost me a bit

and looks like if I don't do it now, I'll be out of warranty in two weeks.

Don't fret, it's been reported a few minutes ago so just let the processes be worked through.

Trio may handle the paperwork but your local dealer might do the repair that usually consists of a replacement mobo.
For the time being please don't be tempted to touch it.

Contact Siglent.
There is solution.
Do you have installed FW version what support recovery using USB flash. (I guess not if I think your timeline)
If you have this, then it is perhaps more easy. (if your SDG failure is this known type)
If not, there is still solution (including some nice bonus) but it need open SDG and hardware activate recovery mode and then run recovery what need special file from Siglent and after recovery then remove this hardware activation.

It have many times told that it is very important update to FW version what support USB recovery.

And also now, if anyone still have SDG800 model with OLD FW then URGENTLY update it to version what supprt USB recovery. Not only support USB recovery but also more new FW do not go to thiss situation so easy at all afaik.

Please butt out Josh as we have several ways to recover these but we try the simplest methods first to gauge the skill of the owner.
It can be quite complex for some so we hold their hand so to get a good result.

I own a SDG805 since many years (out of warranty); today I tried to update the firmware from SDG800_V100R008B01D01P08 (which worked) to the last version, SDG800_V1.08.01.15R2. Even though I followed the instructions to the letter, the machine went into bootloop when it automatically restarted at the end of the update. It is now locked at the "Siglent" splash screen. May I have the recovery image to put in the USB key? If necessary I can also open and tamper with the circuits (but I'd rather not). I'm sending a PM with my e-mail to tautech, just in case... Your version was really very old V100R008B01D01P08

As you can see it is not included even version history pdf (included inside update zip)

If I remember right it can not update directly from this extremely old version. It may need first intermediate update.
(sad there is not list of compatible FW versions list, but when user see his current FW is not even listed in new version update package "version history" it is good signal to user that first is good to ask before update... )

But now it is late for this because its status is now as you told...

I am quite sure, after this failure, it need now SD card recovery. For this there need do also some simple SMD rework (before SD recovery and then return changes back to original. Enough bad mistakes there and it is electronics recycling stuff. But when all is done carefully ok, it is quite robust way to Recover. There is instructions in recovery package including also Hewlett-Packard tool for do SD card formatting.)

I would be glad to try the SD card recovery procedure (a non-booting generator is totally useless!), but cannot find in the siglent site (nor anywhere else) the SD "recovery package" with instructions you mentioned. May you point me in the right direction?

Yes I was looking some one my old case and yes in new documentation this is also well explained by Siglent. Updated now in my old head too.

You need SD recovery package with all instructions.
It is not public share. PM me or @tautech here and after then email.

Hello everyone,

I'm uncertain if my SDG810 is experiencing the same boot issue. It appears to boot to the normal screen, but none of the function buttons respond despite being lit up. Interestingly, when I plug or remove the USB disk, it recognizes the disk and emits a beep. I've tried using the USB recovery software provided by Siglent, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I purchased this unit around 2016, and I'm unsure of the firmware version as it freezes before verification. Is there any way to recover it?
