Siglent SDG2082X waveform gen harmonic feature

(1/1)

Conrad Hoffman:
Maybe this has been mentioned but I wanted to point it out. I got the 2082 as that seems to be a sweet spot on performance vs. price. It's 80 MHz. I wondered if one could use the harmonic feature to get signals above 80 MHz, but the answer is no. If you turn on harmonics, the base frequency is limited such that the harmonics don't exceed 80 MHz, even though the signal path certainly exceeds that. Yes, I could hack the firmware, but I choose not to do that. What I'll also try is a simple frequency doubler on the output, nothing more than a small balun and a couple schottky diodes.

If you want to cover a wide frequency range this circuit might prove useful with faster transistors than 2N3904s. We used it at MMW with SiGe devices.
