I demonstrate some of the operation modes and and show issues I found in my evaluation of this Siglent SDG7102A 1Ghz Arbitrary waveform Generator. Parts 1 & 2 will be the unit in operation and part 3 will be a look inside. This beta unit was sent to me for 3 weeks for evaluation by Siglent Technologies North America. They authorized me to open the unit and show the inside which I do in part three. The SDG7102A beta unit does many things well, but it has issues. I know Siglent will see this and make improvements. That is part of the reason they sent me the unit to evaluate. |

Thanks Chris and we have a thread for these here: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/siglent-sdg7000a-350-500-mhz-and-1-ghz-awgs-coming/ You might like to 'Report" yourself and ask the Mods to consider merging this post to the existing thread. |

I just posted part 2 of 3 of my review of the Siglent SDG7102A Arbitrary Function/Waveform Generator In this part of the review I go over the the IQ mode; direct output and RF modulation, the spectra of the pseudo random noise, and pseudo random binary sequence (PRBS) mode and eye diagrams. Siglent has seen part 1 and will see parts 2 & 3 and will make improvements based on my findings. That is part of the reason they sent me the unit to evaluate. They have promised to send me an updated unit once they address the issues I show in this set of reviews. Chris |

Hi Chris - Thanks for posting these videos. In part 2, you mentioned a case where the SDG7102A changed a parameter setting when you were adjusting a different setting -- modulation rate changed when you changed modulation type, IIRC. This was around 2:40 of the video. That made me wonder if the firmware team fixed a similar case of unwanted parameter changes that happens when going in and out of sweep mode in the earlier AWGs. See the write up at https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/siglent-sdg1000x-waveform-generators/msg3682000/#msg3682000 for details. If you get a chance to run a similar test, it would be interesting to see in part 3. Thanks, Hexley |
