I have the same problem as many others with my Siglent SDM3055.
The unit powers on, shows the startup screen, but then freezes completely.
Only the power button responds.
The green LED HL1 near U4/X1 blinks continuously in a repeating pattern: 2 short blinks, pause, repeat.
According to the service information, HL1 should stay solid ON.
I measured all power rails (5V, 3.3V etc.) and they are stable and within specification, so this does not look like a power supply problem.
I contacted Siglent Technologies support and they provided several recovery packages, but none worked.
The instrument does not appear to access USB storage at all.
I tried:
-multiple USB flash drives
-Kingston drives
-FAT32 / FAT
-small partitions (4GB / 8GB)
-USB 2.0 mode
No activity from the instrument.
Support finally told me that:
My unit is an older 2015 hardware revision the provided recovery files are not compatible
there is no longer any recovery. Support available their only proposed solution is mainboard replacement.
Before I scrap the instrument, I would like to ask:
Has anyone successfully recovered an early SDM3055 using:
-the internal microSD slot
-NAND flash programming
-UART/JTAG/service interface or a special SD-card recovery image?
I am especially interested in:
-Firmware recovery for older hardware revisions
-NAND dumps/images
-information about calibration data storage whether processor firmware can be restored via microSD
I have proper lab equipment and can work with flash programmers if necessary.
Interestingly, after this experience I asked Siglent about firmware updates for my Siglent SHS810, and their response was basically:
“If the instrument works, do not update it.”
Which honestly sounds like good advice after what happened with the SDM3055.
Any information would be appreciated.
