I also have a SDM3055 that does not boot past the splash screen.

I contacted the UK agent and they sent me a set of files to load on a USB, but so for no success in getting it to boot.

I understand that there is a next level approach, and I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Many thanks - Stewart

Welcome to the forum.

Study this post for the link to download USB recovery packages:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/siglent-sdm3055-stuck-on-boot-screen/msg6216557/#msg6216557

Should you have everything correct and USB recovery fails, the email to contact Siglent directly for the SD card recovery is in the same post.
My reply explains the firmware versions needed for USB recovery and a later version that offers User adjustment to correct any loss of calibration from a SD card recovery applied to a unit with old 2017 firmware.

Still, USB recovery when firmware supports such is not always successful and should be attempted multiple times and with multiple USB sticks.
Good luck and do report back.

I have the same problem as many others with my Siglent SDM3055.

The unit powers on, shows the startup screen, but then freezes completely.
Only the power button responds.
The green LED HL1 near U4/X1 blinks continuously in a repeating pattern: 2 short blinks, pause, repeat.
According to the service information, HL1 should stay solid ON.
I measured all power rails (5V, 3.3V etc.) and they are stable and within specification, so this does not look like a power supply problem.

I contacted Siglent Technologies support and they provided several recovery packages, but none worked.
The instrument does not appear to access USB storage at all.
I tried:
-multiple USB flash drives
-Kingston drives
-FAT32 / FAT
-small partitions (4GB / 8GB)
-USB 2.0 mode

No activity from the instrument.

Support finally told me that:
My unit is an older 2015 hardware revision the provided recovery files are not compatible
there is no longer any recovery. Support available their only proposed solution is mainboard replacement.

Before I scrap the instrument, I would like to ask:
Has anyone successfully recovered an early SDM3055 using:
-the internal microSD slot
-NAND flash programming
-UART/JTAG/service interface or a special SD-card recovery image?

I am especially interested in:
-Firmware recovery for older hardware revisions
-NAND dumps/images
-information about calibration data storage whether processor firmware can be restored via microSD

I have proper lab equipment and can work with flash programmers if necessary.

Interestingly, after this experience I asked Siglent about firmware updates for my Siglent SHS810, and their response was basically:
“If the instrument works, do not update it.”

Which honestly sounds like good advice after what happened with the SDM3055.

Any information would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Your issue with a older unit with early firmware is these do not support USB recovery, zip, zero, nada.

From firmware release notes:
2017/4/14    1.01.01.19      1. Add U disk recovery function.

This version also keeps factory calibration < very important.....but units with earlier FW versions can still be recovered with the SD card recovery package although factory calibration will be lost and accuracy seriously compromised.

Therefore effectively you have 3 options.
Suck up the cost for a new mainboard.
Send it to a Siglent branch and have it SD card recovered and recalibrated.
Ask HQ in Shenzhen for the SD card recovery package and attempt to calibrate the unit yourself....the User Cal/adjust feature was added in 2023/3/16   in   1.01.01.27R2 firmware.

Here's the latest firmware for your SHS810 (NOT later X models):

Hello Guys

I have a bricked SDM3055, which i am really missing, and would like to get up and running again.
I hope someone here can help me.
At first it was stuck on the boot process, like everyone else here describes. Then at my own mistake, i
assumed i had to update the firmware using the SD card inside the box ( i didn't read the instructions to use
the USB port, until later, and too late ).
Now the unit wont boot at all, the green LED is blinking on the power button, but that's it. The screen is black,
and if i insert the USB with firmware image 1.01.01.16R2 to get started on the update chain, nothing happens.

Thank in advance for any help. My e-mail address is: lc@lctechs.dk
