I’m having a similar problem but with only a dark display. I posted the details in the repair section of this forum. Hopefully there is hope for me too!

First post. I found this forum yesterday after a quick search. My 18 month old Siglent SDM3055 was stuck on the boot screen.
I sent Tautech a PM and almost instantly he replied back, thanks again Tautech.
He emailed me what I needed to fix my meter and to upgrade the firmware to the latest version.
Great forum, I’ll have to cruise around and see what else I can find.

To all those following, latest firmware should put an end to all this as the important feature in it is:
Optimize flash R&W design.

Anyone with a SDM model please install the latest version.

New to the forum with a new Siglent SDM3055X and right out of the carton it powers up and freezes on the splash screen. I've read in this posting that the new firmware no longer does this so I'm guessing this unit must have been sitting in an Amazon warehouse for quite while. If I can get that repair/fix it would be most appreciated.

If it is dead right out of the box, this would be something to send back for an exchange on warranty.

Hello everybody,
I’m a brand new member.
I had the same renowned problem with my SDM3055x and member Tautech (Rob) kindly helped me out to bring it back to life (with the recovery package). It’s now working with the latest firmware 1.01.01.25.

How’s that Siglent stock price doing after their IPO? Whatever the current stock price is it would be higher if they hired tautech.

My SDM3055 has been running 1.01.01.25 since last September. Used it more times than I can remember since then. Just powered it on and it's hung at the splash screen. So, not convinced that the latest firmware is bug free!

I've messaged @tautech in the hope he can help me.

Back to using an old Meterman 37XR handheld 3.5 digit for the weekend!

Thanks @tautech, I tried the recovery on numerous USB sticks (all FAT32 formatted and less than 16GB), USB LED just flickers a few times at start-up then nothing, it still just sits there on the splash screen. You can see the green LED of the micro through the back panel slots and that is on solid flashing off twice about every second, so there is activity, not sure what it should be doing under normal operation or during boot(?).

Has this recovery been tested with 1.01.01.25? I'm a bit sceptical that the last update (25) was to "Optimise the Flash R/W" ... has that had any effect on the ability to do a recovery? Has it made the hang more prone rather than fixing it?

Any Idea's what else to try? I thought from the previous posts it would be fairly straight forward, but I'm not beaten yet!

Can a recovery be done using the internal SD card slot? Is there a recovery package available for that? I guess that would wipe the calibration though!

Can someone do me a VERY BIG favour!

Can someone Telnet into an SDM3055 (root,ding123) and copy the filesystem to a USB stick:

cp -R /usr/bin/siglent /usr/bin/siglent/usr/mass_storage/U-disk0/

... then message me with (or post on here) a file listing of your /usr/bin/siglent/firmdata0 directory and the contents of these 2 files:

/usr/bin/siglent/firmdata0/DMM_Calibration.xml
/usr/bin/siglent/firmdata0/NSP_System_Info.xml

I've restored my Serial Number after a failed U-Disc recovery (ended up doing a SD U-Disc Recovery!), but the Info Screen now doesn't show 'Production ID : SDM3055' anymore, the line just isn't there! So, I'm wondering where that is stored in the system files.

NSP_System_Info.xml:

Also, My calibration file is empty:

Not sure if this is the user calibration or factory calibration?? If it's the latter, it would be good to know the format of the calibration data from a good file so I can get it baseline cal'd locally, although it doesn't look too bad calibration wise as-is.

Usually model names are stored in .cfg file and are reloaded by a siglent.cfg update file.

I don't remember if that is exactly the case in a SDM.

@tautech, have you got a SDM3055 that you can extract the /usr/bin/siglent/firmdata0/ files from ... just as a reference to compare with what I have in mine.

Not sure it exists. We would need a dump from someone's filesystem to be sure.

@sjb, attached the dump of my SDM3055 with Serial removed.
This is from when I received the device in August last year.
The calibration file may not be correct for you device.

Big thanks @dibro, I'll check it it later. One question, is your SDM3055 just factory calibrated or has it had a user cal applied? ... just so I know what the cal is possibly referring to.

Well, I've now restored the serial number (in NSP_system_info.xml) and the device descriptor (in NSP_trends_config_info.xml). So the system information now reports all the right stuff.

Just need to get the device factory calibrated now!

My SDS 1052DL+ froze on the boot screen, I tried the hard reset with the math button but it's not working. Is this possible to have the usb recovery package suggested in the previous posts?
