SIGLENT SDS 1202X-E Button issue
« on: November 25, 2024, 07:58:48 pm »
Hello All.  I've owned a Siglent 1202X-E for 3 1/2 years and have only fired it up 110 times.  It's always been on a UPS along with my other Siglent Equipment.  I finally got around to using it to decode serial data from an Arduino controller.    I was setting up the trigger and the decode modes when I noticed that the 3rd soft key from the left on the bottom set of keys wasn't responding when pressed to change the Data Length from 8 bits.  You are supposed to be able to press it, have it highlighted on the screen, and turn the intensity knob to vary the bit length.  I contacted an engineer from Siglent to find out how to change the bit length and quickly concluded the scope was not responding to the key.  I asked if there was a goodwill warranty as the scope had only been started 120 times since it was new and he said nope.  I took it apart right down to the nuts and bolds and cleaned the membrane keys and the keypad.  I reseated all of the ribbon cables and checked for any cold solder joints on the header from the keypad etc.  All clean.  My question is, has anyone experienced this issue with the front 6 soft keys on the 1202X-E ?   I have the latest firmware and I even tried rolling it back with no luck.  This is so very disappointing, as I hadn't really used it that much.  Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

Siglent NA might have the keypad membranes in stock.
Ask him for price and availability.

Are you sure it is the keypad fault ?   These usually can be repaired.  Check by shorting the pcb contacts directly to see if the scope responds.
