--- Quote from: ignilux on August 04, 2024, 08:03:48 pm ---TL;DR: The distributor in question is TEquipment. I was made whole, but I didn't receive an explanation of why I was sent an Asian market scope, nor did I receive a replacement NA version. I made it very clear that this was what I wanted, and they failed to do so. --- End quote --- I knew it was Tequipment before you said it. You're not the only one with a terrible experience from them. Saelig is a significantly better company, with excellent customer service. They also have an EEVBlog discount. I'd suggest giving them a try instead. Thanks, Josh |

--- Quote from: ignilux on August 04, 2024, 08:03:48 pm ---Finally received a resolution from the distributor, albeit not at all what I was hoping for. In total I spent one month and around a dozen emails with three different contacts. I made it clear that I was after two things: an explanation of what was sent to me (i.e., the Asian market scope), and a replacement NA version (i.e., what I ordered). The whole process was very frustrating, and the majority of the time I had to send two replies to each message (waiting three to five business days between) in order to get them to respond. They gave me an RMA number, and they inexplicably refunded the full purchase price once they received the unit (instead of sending me a replacement, as I requested). ... --- End quote --- Very unpleasant experience! Mine was acquired from AliExpress (I'm from Europe) but they send to me what I have ordered (the new, black version of 1000H HD). After I put the order they changed the image on their page with a white one, and when I warned them to not try to send me that model they tell me that I will get what I have ordered (they send me a picture with scope and serial number) and they said that they still have old stocks that need to be sold. Beside that they offered me the 1204 model at the price of 1074, they offered also warranty with shipping included (to China of course). So a nice experience with Chinese. I wasn't expected anytime to such an experience from a company like Tequipment. You can try to ask Siglent NA where you can buy the model you want. |

Has anybody done anything to the fan on these scopes? I have an SDS1000X HD on my bench at home, and a 2000X HD at work, and the 1000X HD is significantly more noisy. So significant that I'm thinking about doing something about it. A few observations: * The SDS1000X HD has an ADDA AD0912DS fan, while the SDS2000X HD has a Delta QFR0912H. I couldn't find much data on these, apart from that both are running at 12V, but the ADDA only has two wires, while the Delta one has three; probably for speed control. No dB or CFM data * The SDS1000X HD fan runs at "full speed" all the time, while the SDS2000X HD is controlled * If you look at Dave's teardown videos of the 1000XHD and 2000X HD, you can see that the 1000XHD PCB is designed to work with a 3 or 4-pind fan connector. There is also a little circuitry just beside the fan connector. Maybe the 1000X HD hardware supports fan speed control, but they just cut costs and installed a non-controlled one? |

I never tried it, but I was curious about whether there was support for fan speed control or not. I don't know the answer for either scope, but it could be an interesting experiment for somebody. |

@hansibull: I would just replace the fan, a Noctua has proven itself, I had replaced the fan back then: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/siglent-sds2000x-plus-coming/msg3795722/#msg3795722 The control board turned out to be less important, you can also use the resistors supplied by Noctua. |
