Siglent SDS1104X-E still a good option for a 500€ scope?
(1/1)
Calambres:
Hi there!

My old Tektronix TDS-320 scope is showing its age and giving me some reliability issues. I think this may be the right excuse to get a new modern scope. Never really knew much about today's scopes and so I've spent some time looking for a good one in the 500€ range. I like the Siglent SDS1104X-E a lot but, as it is some years old by now, I'm not sure if this is the best option in that price range.

Sorry to bring back the old recursive "what scope must I buy" song, but I've been reading here and there and I am still not sure what to do.

Any advice?

Thanks a lot in advance.

It would still be my first choice at that price point.  Of course it depends a bit on what you are doing, but coming from a TDS320 I have little doubt that you'll be impressed.

Mostly LF / Audio stuff with some occasional vintage, mostly tube, radio adjustments. The TDS320 has served me well all these years but it's quite an old unit (mine has a stamp dating it back to 1994) so, yes, any new scope is going to impress me big time.

Thanks a lot for your answer.

The little 4ch X-E is a lot of scope that I can assure you will take some time to get to know and be able to challenge its capabilities. It is still very actively supported and logging and NTP support were added in recent FW.
If you want to save a few $ the 4ch X-U might be of interest with its lesser feature set.
Comparison attached.

I think the X-E is a better option for me... Thanks for the chart.
