I've applied the 1.2.2.2 firmware update to a Siglent SDS2304.
Let me capture what I did, hopefully it helps someone.
The update process I took:
Step 1: Download both the
SDS2000.cfg and the
1.2.2.2 firmwareStep 2: Format a USB drive as FAT32
Step 3: Add the SDS2000.cfg file and the sds2k_V100R02B01D02P02_fvA1609220922M160922.ADS files to the usb drive
Step 4: Unmount the usb drive and plug it into the scope
Step 5: Press the Utility button and navigate to Firmware, select the SDS2000.cfg file. Wait for the scope to reboot
Step 6: Repeat step 5, but now select the firmware update file (.ADS file)
After this step the scope is updated, but the help system does not work yet. I haven't tried yet, but likely the help system will work again
when repeating step 6 (this is covered in the upgrade manual pdf).
Observations:
I had no problem going from a 1.1 version to 1.2.2.2 in one go
I notice a degradation in performance when using on-screen measurements:
Before the update, the measurements had some performance impact, but after the update it got way worse. When
a measurement is on-screen, the frame rate will drop to about 1fps or lower. I didn't measure before the update, but
I recall the measurements to not be such an issue before the update. I'm considering to downgrade (if at all possible) because
usable on-screen measurements are more important to me than the functions the 1.2.2.2 firmware unlocks.
I've tried installing SDS2000X firmware, but the scope refuses to install this software.
