Hi all

I am making this thread for those of us who have this nice new scope to report bugs and any feature requests in so they have a clean thread that can be followed by Tau & Siglent

Please keep this thread topic on bugs and feature requests only!

----

Starting this off with a bug Martin72 found and I can confirm

And another strange thing concerning saving screenshots on stick:
Example, you took the stick into the port, taking a screenshot, it will be "named" with 1, what makes sense, because it is the first.
Next shots will be 2,3,4, etc...
So far so good.
But this will going only when you leave the stick connected.
If you put the stick out ( because you want to transfer the pic to pc) and then back, the first pic will be overwrite without a request.
Tomorrow I´ll examine it more exactly.
Hmm...Maybe it´s time for a dedicated bug and missing features thread.

I can confirm this happens if you reboot the scope, so i think its clear its keeping the value in ram and not looking at the usb stick at all before writing nor does it ask to overwrite the prior picture / give opportunity to rename the file

Hi and thanks for starting.

Bug:

- When you start bode plot, the internal awg turns automatically on ( which makes sense..), but if you deactivate it, the awg remains on.

(More to come in the next days, must search in the siglent thread)

Wanted Features:

- All math/decoding functions could be displaying exclusive, this means, channels are hideable - Actually only FFT can be displayed exclusive on the screen.

- Bitrate displaying in the decoding table

- More math traces if possible, 4channel = 4 math traces

- New mathfunction digital filters, highpass, lowpass, bandpass, etc. - Or the possibility to create them via the formula editor.

- Splitscreen function, every channel could have it´s own grid area ( if it´s possible)

- More Information in the math channel "box", actually it´s only named with trace nr. and value - better: trace nr, function name, from which channel :

[attachimg=1]
[attachimg=3]

- Free choosable trace colours for channels, mathfunctions, Decodings

More to come…. ;)

Bug:

FFT Marker Table:
- Even when the switch for "Show Table" is on, the table is not shown unless you toggle the switch. Same for "Show Delta".
- When switching off the "Show Frequency", the "Delta" column is incorrectly labeled as "Abs.Freq" (screenshot)

Wanted feature:

- manually assign markers to detected peaks. The automatic marker functions are not clever enough to always set marker #1 to the "correct" peak (the peak corresponding to the carrier).

:o
X-E models can do this.

Marker Control> select marker>Frequency> press multifuncion control and edit value with virtual keyboard or manually with the encoder.
No 2kX Plus here ATM so someone needs to check this ^

Oh yes! I found it. It seems it's in the same menu "Marker Control". It's a bit clumsy to operate when the markers are all on (you need to disable them one by one). An additional menu item "Disable All Markers" would be very nice.

Please properly explore your scope before asking for stuff that's already there.

Sure but it also depends on how obviously the stuff is, in the menus, in the user manual.

Not what I meant.

That disables the marker function completely. But to set them manually, one by one, they have to be switched off before, individually, and if you ever used the e.g. "set to harmonics" function, all 8 markers will be on. Same if you reset the search threshold. But most of the time you don't need all 8, you need two, maybe three.

To be added (because it should be already present) :

1) For the internal generator, when using the rotary encoder to change  output frequency
add the ability to choose any digit corresponding to frequency increment.
(For now, increment is always moving the second digit, so impossible to move slowly
the output frequency using the knob).

Bug :

2) Remove the display artifact that appear in some time base and menu situation.
(As reported by others on main thread).

It's on all time base settings when the menu is open. Best visible with e.g. sine or rectangle triangle waveform.

Missing feature:

Searchable PDF manual... should be an easy one if Tau could poke them to reexport the manual

Already being done by this ex-member:
Hello. I tried it too. My siglenteu.com file is 34.9MB in size. But you are right, if you enter the word peak it will not be found. I will investigate it further and report it to Siglent if necessary.

Hello,

1)  New bug, confirmed by other users.

On Bode plot, in some situation (50 points/decade for me) there is a wrong measurement
that show spike in Bode response.
In the test setup, no DUT is used, generator directly connected to input and output channel,
then Bode make output/input plot.
Problem occur in both fixed level and vary level mode.

Example below :

The used setup :

2)  Internal generator missing obvious function :

Now, there is another things to say about the internal generator.
I already had a complaint about the inability to set fine frequency
adjustment by using the rotary knob, but i used a little the generator
and we can say this can really not replace even a very low cost stand alone one.

There is now way to modulate the generated waveform !
No modulation at all.
(Even very low price DDS generator can do this).

I think this would be a good improvement to add this feature.

I can confirm it too.
Done Bode today, the spike occurs here too - regardless if you choose the minimum points or more.
And it´s change the frequency, first time it was at 100hz, second time at 1khz.
Or "never"...
Additionally:
Regardless of the choosen amount of points, the system performance in general is slowing down massively (e.g. if you want to save screenshot or if you want to deactivate the bode function or change menu settings while it´s active.).
And:

Quote
When you start bode plot, the internal awg turns automatically on ( which makes sense..), but if you deactivate it, the awg remains on.

And not only the awg, the channel settings bode plot are using will remain also, after deactivating bode function, the awg should turn off also and the channels should remain their former settings.

Finally, display settings on bode plot: When you change the vertical scaling to 1dB and start bode plotting, it changes the scaling to 0.5dB.

Measurements:
Sometimes, I couldn´t add a second measure value for one channel, e.g. I got rms and want to add risetime, I could select it but when you turn out of the menu, the value is not displayed.
Only when I´m clearing all parameters, then I could add it.
This behaviour wasn´t all the time given and it only happens in advanced mode.

Serial decoding settings (signals->channels) are lost after power cycle.  For example I set SPI with SCK to D0, MISO to D1, MOSI to D2, CS to D3.  After power off - on, SCK changes to C1, MISO is disabled, MOSI is disabled and CS is also set to C1.

Do you have changed the power on state to "last" ?

I take this back, I can fully confirm what he has said is true

It does not reload the protocol signal address back into the bus parameters; or rather what it should say it is haphazard.. mine works sometimes.. others just one.. others neither and im doing CAN on D0/D1

Save/recall does not work either, in fact it can fully reproduce the error as described without a shutdown

There is no way to enter 'X' (don't care) in the serial decode trigger, it only accepts 0 and 1 in binary input mode, 0 to F in HEX... but no 'X'

Fixed in firmware 1.3.5R5.  Siglent added 'X' key below 'F'

Firmware 1.3.5R5 and below:

The serial trigger on data value is reset to all '1' (i.e. 8-bit SPI is reset to 11111111) after reboot

Done!

- More Information in the math channel "box", actually it´s only named with trace nr. and value - better: trace nr, function name, from which channel Done !

- Free choosable trace colours for channels, mathfunctions, Decodings

More to come…. ;)

2 wanted features done in the first fw update - real nice. :D
A little wish concerning the channel info box: Instead of e.g. "DC1M" now it´s displaying "D1M" which is somekind of irritating, maybe this could be corrected.

Hi,

Bug:

Advanced Measurements Menu :

Sometimes you couldn´t add another measure, you choose it from the menu but if you return to the the screen, it won´t be displayed.
Everytime: You want to choose or change the source, it remains the same before.
Only if you delete all maeasurements, the "new" choosen one will be displayed proper.

Saving/USB Stick Problem :

Putting a stick which already got a siglent directory onto it and press print, message appears that the pic 12 (e.g) has been stored.
I took several "prints" until pic 17, remove the stick and put it into pc - NO pics were saved…
Took another stick witout siglent directory, the pics will be stored beginning with nr 18...….
And this time, there are on the stick.

Hello,

If we take a look on the Bode plot function on the MSO5000 competitor with 100point/decade (posted these days),
we can really ask why it's sssooooo slow on the SDS2104X-Plus !!
The difference is HUGE.
So, there is still a highway for Siglent to improve the firmware IHMO.
