Does anyone know how to make one of those or buy one somewhere?

Many thanks for the link.

I have already found a UK based company that appear to sell a device and tried to buy one, but in our nanny state it seems they need to know the colour of my underpants and my great great grandmonther's second cousin's cat's name before they will even talk to me... I presume one can get seriously injured using a handheld hydrogen meter so they need to take porecautions who they sell it to. Or maybe the device can be used as a weapon of mass destruction.

More seriously I was also hoping for something less expensive if at all possible. As I am typing this message I am also looking for hydrogen sensors maybe we can put something together and make something that is cheaper than $2,000 and does not require NSA clearance!

google for "MQ-8 gas sensor"
They seem to be cheap.

In case you want to know how I found it I googled "arduino gas sensor"
And that took me here:

Thanks for all the replies and the links.

The MQ-8 HYDROGEN sensor sells on ebay but has an minimum sensitivity of 100ppm - for SIBO testing we start at 20ppm. I have bought a few on ebay and will try to see if they can be made more sensitive.

The proper hand-held bydrogen gas breath devices cost $2000 each and are not so easy to get (in the UK at least).

Luckly I also discovered last night someone selling on ebay a used medical device and I bought it, hopefully it will be functional.

Bump!

Akis, I'm looking to do something very similar. Were you able to find a sensor that worked for hydrogen? (H2)

I found this multi channel sensor http://wiki.seeedstudio.com/images/1/10/MiCS-6814_Datasheet.pdf which seems to have a range for H2 between 1 and high ppm.
