Title: Siglent SDS2204x Plus bandwidth hack
Post by: blavo1 on November 07, 2024, 11:04:08 pm
I've been reading some of the previous posts to this forum for hacking SDS2000x+ upgrades.  The posts I'm seeing are 2-4yrs old, but I still tried some of the procedures in the new posts.   Some of the posts I've seen show a modification to the PCA on the scope by adding a capacitor.  Some of the newer posts show a python script where you enter the scope ID and model number.  After running the script you can telnet into the scope using port 5024 and you'll enter the SCPI command prompt.  I haven't taken scope apart and python script/telnet option didn't work.

Is there a more current method for upgrading a scope now?  If there's a more current post, I'm missing it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

First question that comes to mind: why open a new thread when you've obviously found the hack thread and would ask the question there?
Secondly, the SDS2000Xplus can still be hacked using script-generated keys.
If it doesn't work for you, you've done something wrong.

Welcome to the forum.

Disregard any comments about caps, you've mixed up model #'s or those that wrote about such dunno what they're taking about.  :horse:

you just need the Python script, follow its instructions, and enter the option serial numbers as required...

Thank you for the quick response Martin72, I really appreciate your help with this.  The news you provided is encouraging.

The problem I had was with my telnet session into the scope.  I set up my "Teraterm" terminal emulator to connect and it was successful, I actually got the SCIP prompt but the scope would not accept any input.  My scope is new and I'm sure it has the latest firmware on it.  Is it possible that the SCIP is locked out now?

Now knowing that the script still works and I'll give it another try.

You don't need to telnet in. Connect via the scope's webserver and get the needed device info. Then run the scripts, then input the codes in the webserver.
