Frankly, I think the new fan is only slightly quieter based on qualitative listening. Of course the Noctua connector was different, so I had to cut the connector off of the old fan and solder on to the new fan. Noctua provides rubber mounts. I should have used them...prolly would have made a difference. Maybe I will tear it down and try. Getting into the scope is very straightforward...an easy repair. |

Maybe I will tear it down and try. --- End quote --- As mentioned in another thread I cut the metal fan grille from my SDS1104X-E which barely made any appreciable difference which indicates mounting mods could be of better noise reduction assistance.
