SDS5000X - Saving Screenshots to a network fileshare

There is a very useful feature on the SDS5000X series of oscilloscopes that is not really documented.  It gives you the ability to save screenshots etc., directly to a network fileshare without the need to use a USB stick.  (I believe this also applies to other models.) The configuration is as follows:

1.   Create a fileshare for the scope to access on your NAS (e.g. Synology)
2.   Create a local user account on the NAS for the scope to use for access
3.   Give the just created local user account read/write access to the fileshare created above
4.   Grant the domain accounts that use the NAS access to the fileshare created above
(This will enable the authorized users on the network to access the fileshare from their computer.)
5.   Connect the scope to the same LAN as the NAS
6.   Go to Utility > Menu > Service > SMB File Share > Client on the scope
7.   Enter the drive letter that you want the scope to use for access
8.   Enter the server path as //[IP address of the NAS]/[fileshare name]
Note: Use the IP address and not the server/NAS name
9.   Enter the NAS local username that was created above
10. Enter the password for the NAS local user account created above
11. Check the "Auto Connect" and "Remember Settings" checkboxes if desired
12. Click on "Connect"

From then on, when you access the file manager on the scope when saving/recalling a file, the fileshare will be
be available as the drive letter that you specified above.

Any user (that you granted access to when creating the fileshare above) on the network will be able to access the files directy from their computer. No more need to swap USB sticks!

Thanks for this, I can confirm that it works on the SDS2000X Plus series too, I just did this to my (improved) SDS2104X Plus, slight difference with wording in the menu though...

Utility > Menu > I/O > Net Storage
