Siglent SSA3000X-R 5/7.5GHz Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer
« on: December 18, 2019, 11:47:39 pm »
Exciting news
Siglent has released product information on their chinese website for a real-time spectrum analyzer with 5 and 7.5GHz range, 40MHz bandwidth.
https://www.siglent.com/products-overview/ssa3000xr/

It also looks like the SSA3000X Plus and SVA1000X series are getting 7.5GHz versions

I think 2020 is going to be a exciting year for Siglent :-)

Really nice news to see, now the inexpensive SA players have broken into the higher bandwidths.  I hope they have a VNA version on the way too, even if only a single port like their current lower bandwidth offerings.

Looks like it's got 40MHz realtime bandwidth too!

Yes this new SSA3000X-R range is not to be confused with the recently updated SSA3000X Plus range which will have only a 7.5 GHz version coming early-mid 2020 to add to the existing 2.1 and 3.2 GHz versions.

Looks pretty interesting. Slightly worse phase noise than the Rigol and no IF output though. More expensive too, possibly? (although I guess it depends on what options are included and how they are priced).

These two making a mockery of the Keysight and R&S pricing though.

No analog AM/FM demodulation on the Rigol? That's a surprise.

That's pretty neat, but a bit pricey I think. Lower end model retails at $3k?

Comparison to Rigol RSA5065

Where? All I see is a table comparing it to offerings from Keysight, Tektronix, and R&S, which must be a joke. All three are orders of magnitude more expensive and in a totally different class.

They've changed it. It was there yesterday. However, that's Keysight's lowest benchtop model that supports Real Time analysis, so seems like a reasonable comparison.  Without all the options enabled, its not that different. E.G. frequency range can be just 10MHz to to 3GHz. DANL is worse (-164) without NFE option. But even with just the basic options, you need to spend 5 times as much to get RTSA. I don't know why they require you to have the 80MHz b/w option before supporting RTSA.

Siglent has released product information on their chinese website for a real-time spectrum analyzer with 5 and 7.5GHz bandwith

That would have been stunning, if it had been the case.

They have a bandwidth of 40MHz, and a frequency range up to 7.5GHz.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

I do not remember any case that Rigol have published this kind of comparison table where they compare any their own product with Siglent product. So, why Siglent need compare they products with Rigol. Is Rigol some kind of "reference" level for Siglent. No.
Much better ones need be "reference" just as is also with audiophiles, reference quality speakers or amplifiers and then compare all others to these. So...
If practice and theory is not equal it tells that used application of theory is wrong or the theory itself is wrong.

For a certain period (while Siglent didnt have the equipment ready) it was and the proof is their own table.

I would say that they even used Rigol's parameters as an objective to equal or add a little more. The series params are striking similar.

As in IQ demodulation ?
Yes the SSA X-R, SSA Plus and SVA models can do this.

Hi Rob,  I am looking for a VSA that can output the bitstream so that it can be consumed by other instruments.  I see the data on screen in the video.  A number of VSAs have that ability.  But I would like to output that demodulated bitstream from the instrument in real time, either via a dedicated TTL port, or via LXI.  I looked at the programming manual and it was not apparent how to get at the demodulated data.

Yes we only have limited I/O's to get data out so it must be from USB or LAN and maybe there will be a new SCPI command set when these new models are released. IDK.
But I know 2 beta testers that maybe can take this up with the product managers to see how this might be accomplished however maybe not in real time.  :(

A quick spec-sheet comparison of the SSA3075X-R vs RSA5056-TG

Currently have a Siglent SSA3032X, which has worked well, but am veering towards the RSA5056-TG for the upgrade. Anything I'm missing?

Phase noise is 10dbm less plus I find it much easier to use and oddly enough just nicer.
Have a 5065 on loan and make the comparison yourself then Tautech can't moan to much  :box:

You've used both ?  :-//

I've had a quick play with a beta SSA3075X-R and after some time with SVA, SSA and Plus models for the most part UI is comfortably familiar albeit with additional features.

srce has shown interest in these for a while so should at least test drive one especially when shelling out this sort of coin.  :o

At that price point it's unremarkable. It's probably also just built with a shitload of ADI parts with not much engineering on the part of Siglent, something anyone can just pull off.

As OwO has pointed out not much going on here that hasn't been seen before Rigol were doing this two years ago.

Now If Siglent were going to lift some interesting tech from LeCroy regarding the spectrum analyser capability from the upper models then that would be worth looking at imho

If the SSA3032X-R becomes "upgradable" :) I think it will be an instant success even at 4k Euro.
