I'm a student and saw this BK Precision 2540B-GEN for a (what I thought) was a good deal and picked it up ($150). Realistically I should have done more research

. I found that with many scopes, it's possible to upgrade the specs, with just a firmware modification. Doing a bit more research, this unit is actually aka Tonghui TDO3062BS aka Leaptronix 3062BS. There is a 3202BS that is able to go to 200MHz from the same line, and the Signal Generator goes up to 40MHz from 20MHz on this one.
The firmware on this thing looks a whole lot like Rigol firmware, so I tried doing a few of the button combos from the hack for the 1052E and 1022C. When I go to the System Info page however, pressing any other button immediately closes the info page. The CPU is a Blackfin BF531, which there is plenty of info on this board about dumping and rewriting the flash with JTAG. Is this a worthwhile path to explore? I found 2 copies of a firmware update, though no idea what version number they are since they are labeled by date.
