Signstek = Uni-T
« on: May 12, 2022, 09:47:25 pm »
Hi,
First I have to say I'm new here so hopefully this is the right Sub to post this.
I've bought this Signstek UT139C Multimeter:
https://www.amazon.de/Signstek-UT139C-Digital-Multimeter-Bedienungsanleitung/dp/B08BZJZQ6P/ref=sr_1_2?__mk_de_DE

It looks exactly the same to the original Uni-T UT139C. I think they are basically the same meter, just rebranded. Does anyone know if this is true or did I indeed buy a fake one (i mean its not really fake because it doesn't say UNI-T at all, but you get the point)?
Also: I've never heard about Signstek but their meter is pretty good for the price. Why aren't they more popular?

Don't think they're exactly the same; the Uni-T is 6000 count and this looks
like it's 20000 count. Open it and post photos - maybe someone can give more
advice.

Edit: Looking a bit closer at the link, the photos show a 20000 count meter,
but the description says 6000, so they could be the same.

The fifth pic shows a 4-digit display, with the sixth pic showing a 4-digit display on the box and the meter out of the box with a 5-digit display!

I'd guess it's a rebranded Uni-T, I've seen a few, TIS is another, off the top of my head.

+1 to the request for internal pics!

Here are some pictures of the internals:

The circuit seems to be the same, only some components are different. Maybe a non EU-Version of the UNI-T meter?

I thought many Uni-Ts came in different flavours, denoted by the letter.

The 20000 count ones end with an 'E'. Maybe it's a UT139E or something.

Look at pic 6. It has both 4 and 5 digits. I suspect overenthusiastic marketing in the listing. In any case, the Uni-T 139E had 4 digits, the same as the 139C.

EDIT: Here's a pic of my Unit-T 139C board, purchased maybe 5 years ago. Note the board number; mine is 190612-4, testuser1's is a 190612-5, so the next revision by the look of it. Mine also has the BOB on the other side of the mainboard. The input protection seems about the same.

Needless to say, I only use mine for low energy stuff; I use a Fluke if I am prodding at something dangerous...

It's definitely 6000 counts. The pictures on Amazon even show a bar graph which the multimeter doesn't have so I guess the display part in the product photos is edited (the case seems to be real though).

Look at pic 6.

Obvious photoshop. The display isn't even aligned with the case!  :palm:

Yeah and the multimeter isn't even turned on in this picture so the display should be empty (apart from the missing probes)  :-DD

Maybe the 5-digit display is just a picture printed on the screen protector, it would also explain the wonky alignment...   :-DD
