Software for Keithley 2000

Hi,
Some time ago I bought a used Keithley 2000 that I would like to connect to a laptop to make long-term analyzes. From Keithleys website I downloaded an old application that is DOS based. But it draws a lot of CPU resources and can not be customized. I would like to have a more modern software/solution. At the same time I do not want to put a lot of dollars on Labview or Matlab. I've been thinking about Excel VBA 2010 because I already have it in my laptop. Do you have any suggestions of free applications that work with a Keithley 2000 or know where to find ready VBA solutions?

2000 have RS232, so should not be very difficult to write application which talks to it thru serial or USB to RS232 convertor.
