Tek 547 and 575 weekend haul
« on: April 18, 2016, 02:35:00 pm »
A few weeks ago I scored some vintage HP test equipment. This past weekend was Tektronix. A 575 curve tracer and 547 oscilloscope, both with carts! Both needed a lot of cleaning, inside and out. I took all the knobs off, cleaned them with a brush, cleaned every tube individually, cleaned the sockets, cleaned and lubricated the fans, cleaned all the switches and pots, and did some minor adjustments on the 547 for DC balance. The 547 is awesome, I've been wanting a 500 series scope for a long time, but the shipping made them unrealistic for me to buy. This one appears to be sharper than my Tek 2445 and 475A!!! I absolutely love it. I have a few cabinet parts on their way from Austria to complete the units.

If it jams, force it.  If it breaks, you needed a new one anyway...

Awesome haul.

I really want a 500 series but my other half said no when I explained the requirement of a "scope-mobile" to her :(

My spouse was with me when I picked them up, which was not a good idea! Haha.  Luckily for me, we have an agreement that the basement is pretty much all mine! My spouse gave up a long time ago trying to understand my "need" to have so much test equipment.

I realize this thread is old but wanted to try here before making a new post:

I recently picked up a nice 547 but the amplitude adjustment is not working. I've downloaded the manual and begun reading up on it but want to know if anyone here may know (from experience) the best place to start trouble shooting it. Thank you.
