jrharley:
That's funny TG   :-DD I have no clue how to use this thing. Maybe one day I'll need to learn how.

At any rate, I'm going to call this a wrap for now. Thanks again to everyone for the support, suggestions and comments. The EEVBlog Forum is such a terrific resource for clueless bodgers such as myself.

I've attached a couple final pics and a few notes that I hope may help someone later on down the line.

NOTES ON THE SONY-TEKTRONIX 308 DATA ANALYZER SRAM REPLACEMENT:

1.   The SRAM chips U420 and U422 can be replaced without removing the boards.

2.   The SRAM replacements should be recognized on boot up with no special procedures required if the unit is otherwise functioning properly.

3.   Connector P410 is a potential trouble spot for many functions. It should be cleaned and re-seated in the event of ANY fatal error codes or other failures as a matter of course.

4.   P410 should be able to be cleaned with only partial board dis-assembly.

5.   Removal of the board stack is helpful for access and examination but care must be taken to document the dis-assembly and time allowed for proper re-installation.

6.   The small screws holding the metal keyboard face use a 1/16” hex wrench for removal.

Best of luck to all in your next TE adventure!

Later
