Title: SRS PS365 RS-232 communication
Post by: DandaEEMan13 on March 22, 2021, 09:17:45 pm
Hello,

I am trying to communicate with an SRS PS365 remotely using a computer. From what I read in the manual, it can communicate through RS-232, so I figured I can try and create a python program (using pyserial) to communicate with it.

I am currently able to see the USB-to-RS-232 chipset that is integrated into the cable I am using through the device manager. I am able to open and close the port through the python program, although that helps me little. Outside of that, when I try to use PuTTY to communicate with it as well, the terminal pops up and just sits there loading. SRS said I am on my own and they don't really offer support in trying to figure this out. Any help would be super appreciated!

Thanks,
Dan

"USB-to-RS-232 chipset" must be configured to 9600 8N1.
"USB-to-RS-232 chipset" should work with RS-232 signal levels: ±5V...±15V, not 0...5V
After opening the port in the program PuTTY, you can try to send *IDN?
