SVA1032 troubleshooting (RF input?)

(1/1)

F4FEI:
Hi,
In 2019, I purchased a spectrum/VNA analyzer SVA1032x that has today the following symptoms:
0 dbm from a 50 ohms generator on RF input gives around -10 dBm on the display.
The RF input return loss is between 5 and 10 dB, which is very bad.
These hereabove symptoms seem to indicate that the RF input IC is out of order (probably due to a ground problem between the generator and the analyser, now solved).
I asked for a quote to repair the spectrum analyzer: 1369€!
In fact, Siglent seems not to repair at the component level, but changes the motherboard.
I am really disappointed by this repair policy.
Have any of you had a similar mishap?
Any idea to help me to repair at componet level?
Attached picture: Input level (TG level at -20 dBm ==> -30dBm on the display).
Thanks in advance.

Welcome the forum.

To be clear, it has never been Siglent policy to provide component level repairs as accuracy cannot be assured unlike with a calibrated module/PCB.

Now that's said here are links to previous repair threads where if you can comfortably work with sensitive RF PCB's you can repair yours which has the same RF In circuitry as SSA3000X Plus models.

Please update this thread with your repair as to help others in the future.

F4FEI:
After months of hesitation, consulting tutorials, training to desolder and re-solder QFNs, I finally managed to change the input IC HMC1118.
It wasn't easy, but it's done and the result is there: the spectrum analyzer is working again.
Cost of repair:
- hot plate: €5 (Ali...),
- HMC1118: €20 (Mouser).
That's €25 compared to the €1369 asked by Siglent for repair.
Of course, I was already equipped with:
- Hot air gun,
- flux and solder paste,
- magnifying glass.
I have performed tests according the Siglent Service Manual. All are OK.

Conclusion: It's worth persevering!
