Brand name I never heard of before?
« on: August 03, 2017, 12:36:07 am »
Today I discovered a new brand name that I've never come across before and I was wondering if anyone has and could tell me anything about them, its a company called Sharetree and they seem to be almost identical to AVO but with some switch legends in altered locations. Switches etc are in identical places but where one brand has legends going from quarter to and quarter past, the other has them from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock positions?

Apparently they used to make a range of electronic test gear a few years and then discontinued them 30 years ago and moved on to making a range of specialised test chambers for the testing thermal properties of electronic assemblies etc. Still would have thought that I ought to be able to find some information on the internet for the piece of equipment that I'm looking for, type 450 signal generator. Maybe they were not very popular or just too specialised for their day?

Sorry, forgot to mention that this is from Shortwave magazine November 82, so almost 35 years ago.

Ok folks, I'm a dumbass, there I've said it. Please ignore the reference to AVO, I was thinking of another piece of kit entirely when I wrote original post,  :palm: anyway I decided to purchase this piece of equipment and it needs some repair work doing to it as the AM side works when it feels like it, the FM is a little flakey in areas but for the most part it all seems to look OK visually on the inside, a few suspect joints to reflow etc.

I'll take some photos of the insides later if anyone is interested, it seems to be well made and attention to detail abounds everywhere, plenty of screening and cable management on view. Its missing its handle which also doubles a stand and size wise, it has the same footprint as my Black Star Meteor 100 frequency counter and about 1.75 times its height so they will sit nicely a top of each other on my shelf.

Now all I need is both a operators and service manual for this and then we can set about bringing it back to full usability again. So if anyone has any ideas where I could try, or has a copy, please may I have a copy of it if you have it electronically, if paper based, I'd be willing to pay the postage, scan it and post it right back to you, please let me know.
