Fellows i just picked up a tds-7254b digital scope at a estate sell for 500.00. I haven't had much time to play with it yet but it seems to be a good scope.  Have not found a operation manual yet but still looking.  What do you guy's think about this scope???
All i kniow so far it works and says it has a 4 channel input up to 2.5 ghz.  Am i reading this wrong 2.5 ghz or did i find the once in a lifetime find.  It had four probes and a active probe with it.

Have a look at this $23k refurbished
http://www.testequipmentconnection.com/36394/Tektronix_TDS7254B.php?gclid=CN3rmd-k0LUCFcJMpgod22MA7g

That is more an example of what this seller would like to get for it than a reflection of the real market value of this scope. A TDS7254B probably goes for something in the region of $7k to $10k on the second hand market.

$500 is still a very good price though  ;)

I think I hate you... ! Provided it works, you've scored the bargain of the century there.

I was very tempted by a TDS7404B (the 4 GHz version) that's been on Ebay for the last few weeks. It was up for sale at £4500 and didn't sell, though the seller did turn down an offer of £3750.

What really made the decision for me was that the 7404 only has 50 Ohm inputs, so it doesn't work with passive probed, and that means it's not really useful as a general purpose bench scope. The same is true of the 7254, it's 50 Ohm only.
